The Starlet Series~Episode Four~1940's Ginger Rogers Inspired Look
To be honest, this is pretty standard 1940's styling and considering my hair length and color, it resembled Judy Garland more than Ginger. *sigh* :) But, I adore Ginger and felt she deserved the recognition. Plus, I love the 'glow' she always seemed to have. Enjoy! And don't forget to rate and subscribe. I'll be posting a blog entry dedicated to Ginger sometime this week.

Lisa's Got Some 'Splaining To Do'! ~ Requested Lucille Ball Inspired Updo
This is a heavily requested look inspired by the notorious 'poodle-do' of Lucille Ball. I hope it is sufficient for the many of you who have requested variations on this look. Keep in mind that I did not 'perfect' the look w/ pomade etc and therefore you will see some flyaways. These are easily tamed for longer wear. Thanks for watching!

'Street Repeat'-1940s Hair/ Reverse Rolls/ Victory Rolls (No Backcombing)
This is an almost play by play remake of one of my earliest tutorials: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=COg4eiEFAJE It was a trial run using my new camera so the actual tutorial quality will likely as I get more comfortable with it. This is a simple vintage style that can be done on previously styled hair and doesn't require much curl. No setting, no back combing...and pretty dang authentic in spite of that. PLUS the added bonus of some of you ladies boasting your own rolls at the end. :) xoxo

Late 1940's Hairstyle Inspired by Ginger Rogers
Style can be as deconstructed or polished as you like. For a more authentic version of the look, include more polished pincurls and place them higher on the head. If you have longer hair, you can also underpin the back into a pageboy. Similar to my 'Sally Jupiter' video. '1940's era Kate Beckinsale Pearl Harbor Hairstyle
Not a great style for high humidity environments, as is evident by the way the style changes during Evelyn's stay in hawaii. If it weren't for Beckinsale's natural waves, I doubt this style would have been attempted, for the film. Lipstick I'm wearing is actually one of the ones that Julie Hewett created on the set of the film. More info about it and other products used in this style available at my blog (posted later today): http://lisafremontpages.blogspot.com/2010/06/diamonds-and-dames-episode-10evelyn.html Thanks for watching! 1950 Bette Davis Relaxed Curls Hairstyle
A 1950 side parted softly waved hairstyle similar to Rita Hayworth but without a 'waterfall' effect . The curls relax around the bottom and look looser and less maintained. Margo's hair 'flips' out in the photos but in the movie, this is not so evident. If you want the ends to be 'flipped', hold your hand just above the curls and pull your brush outward to achieve this look. Thanks for watching. Please rate and subscribe.

1939 Norma Shearer Fluff Curls Hairstyle Tutorial
The first of the all-requests series, Diamonds and Dames. Interestingly, the title of this series is unintentionally similar to a blog I visit often...Diamond Dame: http://www.diamonddame.com/ Anyway, visit her cool blog for lots of great retro news and reviews. About Mary Haines: Norma Shearer played her in the movie and I'll provide a movie synopsis on my blog. The hairstyle is short but we 'faked it' here. This style is actually achieved with the 1930's/40's 'shingle' haircut as described in Creative Hairshaping by Ivan Anderson. It was very popular among the mature ladies of the time. I used an overpinning technique to mimic the fluff curls, as opposed to an underpinning technique that would give the hair a bobbed appearance. It's not perfect...but definitely workable. For that gorgeous "Norma" orchid, visit 'Belle Blossoms', as seen in my last product review: http://www.littlebellesboutique.com/item_120/Norma-Orchid.htm By the way, I forgot to include the name of the persons who requested this look. So if you requested Mary Haines...say 'here here!' in the comments. :D Enjoy!

Sweet and Simple Vintage Hairstyle- Using Hot Sticks
FOR MY VIEWERS: PLEASE EXPAND TO READ! This tutorial is my first attempt using a new editing software. My laptop is sadly not up to the challenge and demand involved in this software and therefore some things were impossible to do, rendering this video choppy and disjointed in places. Text goes to quickly, some clips appear in random places, and the video is only viewable in 720p. That said, I think once the kinks are worked out, this will be a good option for me, from a more powerful computer of course. ;-) It took me a long time to get this one done, but your feedback is important to me so feel free to comment below. This is my attempt to go 'back to formula' with some of my videos, using the same personable style that likely drew many of you to my channel in the beginning and showcasing the music that drives me, more heavily. Music in this video is by Si Cranstoun, from his Smokehouse Sessions album: http://sicranstoun.bigcartel.com/ *About the hair: This style can actually be accomplished even MORE quickly by utilizing Rockin Rollers the night before...See my review and tutorial featuring them here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0R6GrOP9p7A

1940 Ginger Rogers Hair Tutorial
This style was taken from the 1940 classic, Kitty Foyle, starring Ginger Rogers. The actual style features victory rolls, but the openings aren't visible, so I thought I'd simplify it for you. Info on the movie: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0032671/ Info on the song: Glen Miller's "In the Mood" was the number one song of 1940. Info on the Series, Diamonds and Dames: Diamonds and Dames is an All-Request series I started several years ago where I recreate styles from your favorite classic films. 1940's Inspired Rachel McAdams Hairstyle
This video is inspired by the late-forties/ fifties-ish hair worn by Rachel McAdams in the 'okay' film from 2007, Married Life.
