Oracle Data Guard 11g - Overview Cascaded Redo Transport Destinations

10:45
We are know usually in traditionally data guard configurations standby databases receives primary database generated redo indirectly from primary. A cascaded redo transport destination receives primary database redo indirectly from a standby database rather than directly from a primary database. A standby database that cascades primary database redo to one or more cascaded destinations is known as a cascading standby database. Cascading has the following restrictions: A physical standby database is the only standby database type that can cascade redo The Data Guard broker does not support cascaded destinations Regards Mahir M. How configure oracle 11g In Archivelog Mode & No archvielog Mode On Redhat

16:45
The following are the steps required to enable archive log mode on an Oracle 10g or 11g database. Verify the database log mode. [email protected] sqlplus / as sysdba SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production on Thu Apr 8 12:02:52 2010 Copyright 1982, 2009, Oracle. All rights reserved. Connected to: Oracle Database 11g Enterprise Edition Release 11.2.0.1.0 - Production With the Partitioning, OLAP, Data Mining and Real Application Testing options SQL archive log list Database log mode No Archive Mode Automatic archival Disabled Archive destination USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST Oldest online log sequence 25 Current log sequence 27 SQL The log mode is No Archive Mode. Note that Archive destination is USE_DB_RECOVERY_FILE_DEST. You can determine the path by looking at the parameter RECOVERY_FILE_DEST. SQL show parameter recovery_file_dest NAME TYPE VALUE ------------------------------------ ----------- ------------------------------ db_recovery_file_dest string /u01/app/oracle/flash_recovery _area db_recovery_file_dest_size big integer 3852M SQL By default, archive logs will be written to the flash recovery area. If you do not want to write archive logs to the flash recovery area you can set the parameter LOG_ARCHIVE_DEST_n to the location in which you wish to write archive logs. SQL alter system set log_archive_dest_1='LOCATION=/u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/arch' scope = both; System altered. SQL archive log list; Database log mode No Archive Mode Automatic archival Disabled Archive destination /u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/arch Oldest online log sequence 25 Current log sequence 27 SQL Now we shutdown the database and bring it backup in mount mode. SQL shutdown immediate Database closed. Database dismounted. ORACLE instance shut down. SQL startup mount ORACLE instance started. Total System Global Area 849530880 bytes Fixed Size 1339824 bytes Variable Size 511708752 bytes Database Buffers 331350016 bytes Redo Buffers 5132288 bytes Database mounted. SQL Lastly all that is needed it set archive log mode and open the database. SQL alter database archivelog; Database altered. SQL alter database open; Database altered. SQL archive log list Database log mode Archive Mode Automatic archival Enabled Archive destination /u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/arch Oldest online log sequence 25 Next log sequence to archive 27 Current log sequence 27 SQL We can now see that archive log mode is enabled. Notice that Automatic archive is enabled as well. In Oracle 9i an earlier another parameter needed to be set in order to enable automatic archiving. This in no longer the case in 10g and 11g as automatic archiving is enabled when the database is placed in archive log mode. You can switch to the log file to see that an archive is written to archive log location. SQL alter system switch logfile; System altered. SQL host [email protected] ~$ ls /u02/app/oracle/oradata/orcl/arch 1_27_711369564.dbf [email protected] ~$ exit exit SQL The following are the steps required to disable archive log mode on an Oracle 10g or 11g database. Verify the database log mode. [email protected] ~$ sqlplus / as sysdba SQL*Plus: Release 11.2.0.1.0 Production on Thu Apr 8 12:54:05 2010 Copyright c 1982, 2009, Oracle. All rights reserved. 03 Archive Part 1 of 2

02:45
In this section we are going to show you how easy it is to archive Avid projects in Project Parking. The archive is a complete representation of the both the project metadata, sequences, bin and consolidated media. The archive destination could either be disk array, LTO or LTFS archive. Most customers create an Archive during production for backup purposes or end of production archiving or short-term parking of a project to free up Avid shared storage. The archive by its very nature is designed to provide a snapshot of the complete project and associated media. Subsequent archives of the same project will only archive the changes or additions from the source project. Here is our project open in Media Composer and here is the bin structure. Now we can switch over to Project Parking. Here is the same project, displaying the same folder structure as you have just seen in Avid Media Composer. Project Parking will warn you in the Activity tab, if you are trying to archive an open project and closing the project removes any chance of the project changing during the archive. Therefore, the first important thing to do before archiving is to close the Avid project. Back to Project Parking and after pressing archive we can select which bins to include in our archive. We can add a note if required. You can also set the archive to pause after the analysis. This provides a way for you to review the project analysis process prior to committing to an archive. Let's select this to illustrate and press start. We can watch the progress of the archive in the Activity tab. Once the project analysis has completed you can review the archive report. If you are fine with the report you can press Archive to start the archive. We will cancel this and start again without the pause after project analysis. Back to the archive tab and deselect pause after analysis, then press start. We can watch the progress of the archive in the Activity tab. Here we can see the progress of each file copied across to the archive. Files that are new or changed will only copied to the archive. To make sure the copy is correct, a MD5 checksum is verified against the original file. Any discrepancies between the source and destination will be logged in the Archive log. All of the project files and folders are also copied across into the same folder structure. The result of the archive is a single folder which you can easily move from one place to another and can be accessed independently to Project Parking in the future. The archive summary can be reviewed after the archive has completed. The archive summary highlights progress and if there have been any problems. And if we select the Summary Report, we get the summary that includes the details of when the archive was created and all the files that were included in that archive. We can also see our archive now in the Archive and Restore tab. During this section we showed:- • How to easily archiving an Avid project and all associated media • Reviewing the archive summary • Showing the new archive in the archive list

SSIS Tutorial Scenario How to create Excel File Dynamically for Stored Procedure Results in SSIS Package by using Script Task You are working as ETL Developer / SSIS Developer and you need to create an SSIS Package that should execute Stored Procedure from SQL Server database and create an excel file for data returned by Stored Procedure. Let's assume that in in scenario, the Stored Procedure does not accept any parameters. Often Stored Procedures are created to run bunch of queries to generate final results and load that to Excel file. Your Stored Procedure might be using pivot and it can return different columns on each execution. Our SSIS Package should be able to handle this situation. It should always create an Excel file whatever columns are returned by Stored Procedure. The excel file should be generate with Datetime on each execution.
