Super close call this week! I don’t think I’m going to get close than that.
Oh I should also say if a couple of the clips look weird, it’s because I was trying out 1080p but decided to switch back to the tall videos. I much prefer the view they give.
First clip, bad place to stop. Looking back, perhaps I should have positioned myself more into the middle of the “lane” to stop the flow of traffic as I somewhat encouraged people to squeeze by, by positioning myself to the right. I did not feel comfortable at all stopping there. One distracted driver and that would have been a 40mph hit.
They’d just heard of a bicycle sale – Or perhaps there was a rare Pokemon sighted just up the road. Either way, I can’t think of any other reason why you’d play follow the leader through a red light.
I thought there had been a bump – I just caught the sudden braking of the Fiesta but didn’t see exactly what happened. Nobody got out of the car in front so I guess the Fiesta was just coasting forward, expecting the Corsa to move off, looked back and hit the anchors! Pay attention peoples.
Another cyclist rushing to the sale – I wish I’d known about it sooner!
He had a place to pull in! – This bus driver pissed me right off. You can see it’s a single track road. When he saw me, and he did because he stopped briefly, he had a small lay by (which I point to) next to him but instead, driving at me seemed the best option to him. That driver is an absolute cockwomble! I had the tiniest gaps to get through, which forced me partly through a bush and somehow I managed to get through with only a few scratches. Absolute fucking cockwomble!
Mirror, signal, oh, no they want to overtake – I’m just moaning over something small here but if I’m indicating, and you’ve seen it from back down the road, would you be so kind as to actually let me take the lane I need to? Cheers, thanks.
It’s borderline – So is this a RLJ or not? He had plenty of time to stop and the light changes as the moped is half way over the line. For some strange reason as well... he’s hugging the moped. Take a closer look, one hand is wrapped around the front fairing.
It takes seconds – HOLD ON A MINUTE! How did I not notice that amazing car on the other side. A modified mini isn’t it? Clubman? Either way, holy cow what a nice ride. Anyway yeh, I’m slow, they’re faster, I let them passed because it was safe.
The signs (mostly) never lie – I was going to put never, but then I remembered they put out signs saying “Workforce in the road” and half the time there isn’t anyone there... This clip for me, highlights how us cyclists can be deceivingly nippy in times where you think you can sneak around the outside.
First class parenting there – Before anyone asks, no I’m not a parent, but to walk across the road, with your child in a pushchair as the lights as turning green for the traffic is ridiculous. His misses wasn’t happy...
Two wheeled advantage – In the words of Mel Gibson, “Freeeeeeeedooommmmmmmmmm”
I think the gap was left for me – I took it anyway. Thanks! Disclaimer: I don’t normally cycle up the inside of traffic but as the traffic had been moving at a reasonable speed before hand, the inside was the place to be so as not to hold up anyone if I couldn’t keep up.
And that’s your lot! If anyone does read this, look out for a midweek video, documenting the restoration of a 1975 Raleigh Wayfarer. It’s been done in more of a vlog style, so it’s 15 or so minutes long but worth a watch. Released on Wednesday.
