From Oscar de la Renta to Chanel, here are some of the most lavish and prestigious fashion brands. Subscribe to Hindered Thoughts http://goo.gl/d3U3RP 6. Chanel The high fashion wear company was introduced to the world back in 1909 by none other than Gabrielle Bonheur Chanel, otherwise known as “Coco Chanel.” This is where the brand gets its inspiration for the famously recognizable logo that is two interlocking C’s. The company specializes in creating haute couture for its wealthy clients but also for fashion models like Naomi Campbell, who once modeled for them, and actresses Marilyn Monroe, Keira Knightley, and Nicole Kidman. One of their most famous products is the perfume No. 5 de Chanel, along with the Chanel Suit. Today, Chanel is valued at being $6.8 billion dollars. An interesting fact to note is that Karl Lagerfeld, the creative director behind Fendi, happens to be the creative director for Chanel as well. 5. Prada Founded back in 1913 by Mario Prada, this fashion brand actually started out by manufacturing leather bags and trunks. It would then evolve into selling everything from clothing to perfume and even a brief stint of LG Prada cell phones. Though the brand may have broadened its inventory, it still spends the majority of its focus creating some of the world’s most exclusive handbags that only the rich and famous can possibly hope to afford. Mario Prada believed that women should not be involved in business so he excluded his own family members from getting involved. In a fantastic twist of irony, his son did not care to run the business so his daughter Luisa Prada took over as his successor and is now currently being run by her daughter Miuccia. 4. House of Versace The fashion empire that is the House of Versace all started with fashion designer Gianni Versace back in 1978. He created a brand that has been synonymous with elegance and simply oozes high fashion. His glamorous gowns have gone on to make a name for himself as a respected designer. Like the case of the famous black dress held with gold safety pins that actress Elizabeth Hurley wore back in 1994 to the premiere of Four Weddings and A Funeral. Sadly, Versace’s life was cut short in 1997 on the steps of his Miami mansion when he became the fifth and final victim of Andrew Cunanan. The tragic event will be the story behind American Crime Story’s season 2 titled: The Assassination of Gianni Versace. After his death, his sister Donatella became the new Artistic Director and has established a $5.5 billion company her brother would be proud of. 3. Gucci Started in 1921 by a Mr. Guccio Gucci, the company was originally dabbing in leather goods. It wasn’t until 19 years later when his son Aldo would take the company from being a one-stop shop into the fashion powerhouse that it’s now known for being. It’s Aldo that would usher in the era of the brand’s iconic “Bamboo Bag” and its “ready to wear segments.” In the 90’s, the company decided to bring American Fashion designer Tom Ford to revamp their women’s wear. He ended up helping launch the brand to where it is today. The fashion brand houses other well-known designers in its collections such as Alexander McQueen, Stella McCartney, and Yves Saint Laurent. If you’re in the market to do some shopping at this $12.4 billion brand, expect to spend at least $2,000. 2. Louis Vuitton This may come as a shock but the famous fashion brand has been around longer than you might have thought. Formed 163 years ago in 1854, a young man by the name of Louis Vuitton started out as an apprentice for a box-maker. Vuitton ended up becoming a well-known crafter of luxury trunks and opened up his own shop in Paris. He then ended up becoming the personal box-maker of Napoleon III’s wife, Empress Eugenie de Montijo. Fast forward years later and the company is now worth $28.1 billion with a generated revenue of $10.1 billion. Today, Louis Vuitton doesn’t make just trunks but designer handbags and clothing that can be spotted on the most famous of A-listers. 1. Balenciaga The beginning of Balenciaga’s reign began back in 1919 when it was established by its founder of the same name, Cristóbal Balenciaga. As a young child, Balenciaga became an apprentice to a tailor in his hometown of Getaria, Spain and would eventually get his formal training in Madrid. He would go on to create the House of Balenciaga and skyrocketed to success thanks to his artistic genius. He was hailed as the undisputed “ King of Fashion” and was highly respected among his peers which included the likes of Coco Chanel, Christian Dior, and Pierre Balmain. Balenciaga even helped train the likes of high-fashion designers Oscar de la Renta and Hubert Givenchy to name a few.

This street leads off from Placa de Catalunya, so it's really easy to find. You will find top designer brands like Chanel, Gucci, Louis Vuitton, Longcamp etc. In the same street, scattered amongst the designer brands, you will find some fabulous high street brands that offer high fashion clothing at reasonable prices. A great example of this is the Spanish brand Stradivarius. They had some fabulous things in their store for Spring. There is also Bulevard Rosa Shopping Centre. It's a small centre, but it has some very interesting stores. It's here that I found The Outlet store. They have a few designer brands at knock down prices. There were also some lovely shoe stores ranging from €129 - €200. Perhaps the most famous shopping district in Rome is the area surrounding Piazza di Spagna, at the base of the Spanish Steps. Tourists flock here to see the flagship stores of Italian designer lines like Prada, Gucci, Etro, Dolce & Gabbana, Miu Miu, Bottega Veneta, Missoni, Versace, Tod's . . . the list seems almost endless. You'll also find Chanel, Louis Vuitton, Wolford, Sephora, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany and other big global brands. Via del Babuino is a very elegant street, connecting Piazza del Popolo and Piazza di Spagna. There you can find designer shoes, clothes, jewelries, high end antique stores, a couple of book stores (including the Touring Club, where you can find great maps and books about Rome, Italy and more) and several famous brand boutiques, including Emporio Armani. Via dei Condotti and via Borgognona, parallel streets connecting via del Corso and Piazza di Spagna, have the big firms of Italian and international fashion from Prada to Valentino, Hermes, Trussardi, Moschino and more... even if you can't afford shopping there, don't miss a stroll in the area to admire the displays in the windows. More affordable yet elegant designer clothing and accessories can be found in other parallel streets, such as via Frattina, via della Croce, and via Vittoria. There's a bookstore (called the Anglo American Bookstore) that sells book in English in via della Vite. As you walk around the city center you'll find plenty of interesting stores also around the Pantheon and piazza San Lorenzo in Lucina area. Another interesting area for shopping is around Campo de' Fiori and Piazza Navona. In via del Governo Vecchio, close to Piazza Navona, you'll find young/independent designer stores, so if you're looking for something a bit more original, that's where you want to go. Also - via dei Giubbonari, connecting piazza Campo de' Fiori and via Arenula, has some interesting stores for clothes, shoes and bags.

Get more Tips here! http://www.destinationtips.com Before visiting a new country, you probably search high and low for all the things you should do during your stay. But what about all the things you shouldn't do? That's why we've prepared a list of 5 things NOT to do in Spain. 1. Don't Wear Swimwear on the Streets It's illegal to venture out on the streets while wearing just your board shorts or a bikini. So make sure you pack a cover up in your beach bag so you're not hit with a hefty fine. 2. Don't Stop for a Plainclothes Police Officer If you get stopped by a plainclothes officer, politely ask for a uniformed officer to come to the scene. Crime is relatively low in Spain but thieves may disguise themselves as officers to catch you off guard. 3. Don't Even Think About Eating Early Lunch is generally served from 2 to 3 p.m. When dinnertime rolls around, most major restaurants don't begin serving until 8 p.m. If you don't think your tummy can make it that long, you can always fill up on some tapas until it's time to head off to your dinner reservations. 4. Don't Pack a Bunch of Clothes Every city has its own little district where you can find a variety of brands and some beautiful trinkets. Madrid has a popular flea market called the Rastro, and Barcelona has Las Ramblas that's full of bargains. You're gonna want some extra space in your case. 5. Mind Your Step! Spain has a bit of a poop epidemic. In Madrid, the situation got so bad they were forced to implement a $1,700 fine for those who didn't clean up their pets' waste. Even with the fine in place, excrement is still a major problem so watch where your step! Where do you want to know what not to do in next? Comment below!

Fashion is a popular style or practice, especially in clothing, footwear, accessories, makeup, body piercing, or furniture. Fashion is a distinctive and often habitual trend in the style in which a person dresses. It is the prevailing styles in behaviour and the newest creations of textile designers. Because the more technical term costume is regularly linked to the term "fashion", the use of the former has been relegated to special senses like fancy dress or masquerade wear, while "fashion" generally means clothing, including the study of it. Although aspects of fashion can be feminine or masculine, some trends are androgynous.Early Western travelers, whether to Persia, Turkey, India, or China, would frequently remark on the absence of change in fashion there. The Japanese Shogun's secretary bragged (not completely accurately) to a Spanish visitor in 1609 that Japanese clothing had not changed in over a thousand years. However, there is considerable evidence in Ming China of rapidly changing fashions in Chinese clothing. Changes in costume often took place at times of economic or social change, as occurred in ancient Rome and the medieval Caliphate, followed by a long period without major changes. In 8th-century Moorish Spain the musician Ziryab introduced to Córdoba[unreliable source?] sophisticated clothing-styles based on seasonal and daily fashions from his native Baghdad, modified by his own inspiration. Similar changes in fashion occurred in the 11th century in the Middle East following the arrival of the Turks, who introduced clothing styles from Central Asia and the Far East. The beginning in Europe of continual and increasingly rapid change in clothing styles can be fairly reliably dated. Historians, including James Laver and Fernand Braudel, date the start of Western fashion in clothing to the middle of the 14th century. The most dramatic early change in fashion was a sudden drastic shortening and tightening of the male over-garment from calf-length to barely covering the buttocks, sometimes accompanied with stuffing in the chest to make it look bigger. This created the distinctive Western outline of a tailored top worn over leggings or trousers.

She wore another look by the affordable U.K.-based brand during her a royal tour in India at 2016. L.K. Bennett Kate is oftently seen wearing the brand's popular neutral "Sledge" pumps made of patent leather, as seen in 2011. This label also makes clutches and clothing, which she's worn on several occasions. Kate Spade The Duchess has Kate Spade pieces, such as these vibrant red tassel earrings she wore in 2017 to a fundraising event, to royal outings. She also wore a polka-dot dress by the designer the day after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's engagement announcement. Strathberry Meghan put this Spain-based handbag brand in the spotlight when she wore the label in the weeks following her engagement announcement. She can't stop wearing Strathberry's leather purses with gold accents, such as this forest-green crossbody which she matched to her coat while visiting Scotland in February. Aritzia She wore a green trench by the Canadian-based chain to the U.K. Team Trials for the Invictus Games in April with Prince Harry. She also had seen wearing a burgundy dress by the retailer in September. Reiss Kate wore a navy long-sleeve Reiss dress for her engagement portrait with Prince William which almost shut down the internet and she notably wore a neutral sheath when she met the Obamas in 2011. She paired it with a clutch and black heels while speaking with then-First Lady Michelle Obama. Alexander McQueen Meghan really love a good pantsuit, as she seen wearing this sophisticated Alexander McQueen set she wore in February. Although she didn't wear a McQueen wedding gown, as many people thought she would, she nevertheless seems to appreciate the fashion house's timeless aesthetic. Today, we’re going to look at the history of Zara, its parent company Inditex, and the fashion industry in general, to see how it became possible to create such a high churn rate in the fashion industry. An average American will throw away 77 pounds of clothing every year. And that’s true across the majority of the western world. That is two suitcases of clothes, just dumped. Zara’s first store opened in 1975, in a city called A Coruna in northern Spain. Owners Amancio Ortega and Rosalia Mera had wanted to name it after a favorite Greek film called Zorba the Greek, but a bar on their street had already beat them to the punch, so they settled for Zara, since they had already had the letters made for the sign. Inditex was set up in 1985 as holding company for Zara and the manufacturing plants. They went on to set up and take-over many other high-street brands that follow Zara’s format; such as Pull and Bear, Bershka and Stradivarius. They now have over 6000 stores globally. Zara’s early business model was to create similar copies to high end lines but at an affordable price. As they expanded through Spain, Ortega pushed the idea of instant fashion, where Zara could react incredibly quickly to new trends so they could put new lines on the shelves in a fraction of the normal time. -----------------Support the channel: Support this channel: https://www.patreon.com/alexberman SUBSCRIBE for more videos like this: http://youtube.com/alxberman?sub_confirmation=1 Check out our Digital Agency Marketing Podcast: https://itunes.apple.com/hr/podcast/digital-agency-marketing-1/id1200614219?mt=2&ls=1 Need lead generation or marketing support for your agency? Some founders of world-famous brand prefer to stay out of the spotlight and keep themselves a secret. We decided to unveil the mystery and show you the 10 founders of super famous brands producing things you sure use every now and then. Howard Schulz, founder of Starbucks, was inspired by the atmosphere of Italian espresso bars and it’s safe to say that he was the one who made the espresso-based beverages popular in the US. Now you can find a Starbucks almost anywhere in the world. Amancio started his business in the ’70s: He made nightgowns and bathrobes with his wife right in their living room. Once, their German partner declined a huge order and the spouses decided to sell clothes on their own. Later, the company was renamed to Inditex and opened new clothing stores: Massimo Dutti, Pull and Bear, Oysho, Zara Home, Uterqüe, Stradivarius, Lefties, and Bershka. In 2000, the famous Pandora charm bracelet was created: buyers were able to create jewelry of their own design by putting the charms they wanted on the bracelet. Since then, the company has been growing and the Enevoldsen family are one of the richest people in Denmark. In 1969, the musicians from The Doors were recording the album Morrison Hotel. At about the same time, they accidentally came across a diner named Hard Rock Cafe, and their album was exactly in this music style. They made a few pictures in this cafe and then put the photos on the back side of the album cover. A year later, 2 Englishmen called them — Isaac Tigrett and Peter Morton and asked them to let them open a cafe in London named Hard Rock Cafe. At the beginning of the 1930s, Ole Kirk opened a company that made ironing boards and ladders, but he soon started making wooden toys. The word “Lego” consists of 2 Danish words: “leg” (play) and “godt” (good). In 1933, Rene founded a company that made shirts for tennis, golf, and sailing. -Lego was founded by Ole Kirk Christiansen in early 1930s, and its name literally translates as “play good”. -Google was created by 2 students from Stanford University — Larry Page and Sergey Brin. In this edition of "Industry Insight" -- we talk about fast-fashion brands. Despite tight competition, local "fast-fashion", or S.P.A. brands... fight on to rival their successful foreign counterparts in Korea... as they also try to expand globally. Connie Lee has more. They are the so-called "fast-fashion" brands, or S.P.A. brands, easily seen in Seoul's busy shopping districts. Over the past couple of years in Korea, there's been a growing demand for these... SPA brands-- with both foreign and domestic firms flooding the streets, here in Korea. "I like these kinds of brands because their prices are reasonable, and they have styles that are liked by most people." SPA, short for "specialty retailer of private label apparel"... had a market worth of about 500-billion won in the Korean market, back in 2008,... but has since grown to about 3-trillion won... or about 2-point-8 billion U.S. dollars in 2013. "The SPA brands in Korea are changing the paradigm of the fashion industry in Korea. Before we saw brands more focused on their brand image-- but now it's about the retail store's image and how to meet the exact demands of its customers." SPA brands do it all --from design to manufacturing and retailing -- thus, prices are lower and new items can be produced at a faster rate. "For many of these SPA brand retail stores, there are new items that hit the racks almost weekly. And at this store, new products are apparently delivered every day." Currently, the three biggest SPA brands in Korea are not homemade..... They're Japan's Uniqlo,... one of the first SPA brands to enter Korea in 2005,... Spain's Zara and Sweden's H&M. The local brands, which are latecomers to the SPA world, however, are not afraid to join in on the competition. Retail conglomerate, E-Land Group, which introduced Korea's first SPA brand called Spao in 2009,... currently has more than 10 such brands under its belt. Their aim is global expansion -- first, by conquering Asia. [ ] "We found success with our first stores abroad in China and Japan. So we now plan to increase the number of our SPA brand stores in China to 50 next year. / We have an edge over our foreign competitors because we design and produce according to the specific tastes of our Asian consumers." And back in Korea, the already diluted market of SPA brands is still vied by newcomers from abroad. Canadian label Joe Fresh was recently introduced,... and the UK's popular TopShop are apparently eyeing the market. "Global companies could see Korea as a test-market... as Korean consumers are now recognized as trendsetters and fast-adapters." Connie Lee, Arirang News.

In today′s "Industry Insight"- we′re going to be talking about fast-fashion brands. Officially called S.P.A brands,... Korean companies are considered late-comers to the industry. But that hasn′t tamped down their big aspirations. Connie Lee has more on this. Connie- Simply put, SPA brands sell trendy items at competitive prices. Currently, these S.P.A brands... or fast-fashion brands... here in Korea... make up about 8 percent of the fashion industry,... but... with the potential to grow even more. // The top three biggest SPA brands... are UNIQLO, ZARA AND HM... and all of them saw record-breaking sales last year. Data shows that the total sales of the top three brands last year topped 1-trillion won... or more than 980-million U.S. dollars. That′s up nearly 31 percent... from the year before. But despite the TIGHT competition,...the LOCAL S.P.A. brands are now just fighting among one another they′re also trying to expand globally. Here′s a closer look. They are the so-called "fast-fashion" brands, or S.P.A. brands, easily seen in Seoul′s busy shopping districts. Over the past couple of years in Korea, there′s been a growing demand for these... Fast fashion means that the brands produce in countries where labor is very cheap because the laws don't protect the garment workers. The clothes produced are of poor quality and execution, and they get sold at incredibly cheap prices in "rich countries". Since they are trendy in design, they will get out of fashion quite quickly. In fact, fast fashion brands even release new collections every 2 weeks, to make clothes previously purchased... obsolete. How to tell if a brand is "fast fashion": 1. Look at the brands producing in countries and factories where accidents happen. These brands clearly don't care about where and how their clothes get produced... 2. Research to which larger corporations these brands belong. It is very likely that a huge corporation like Inditex (Zara, Mango...) uses similar production methods for all its brands. 3. Understand the mindset of the brands / corporations that belong to the fast fashion industry: if they outsource their productions to countries where labor rights aren't respected, it is probably not to be charitable. Then claiming to use organic cotton (as an example of PR action) just can't make it up for ethically questionable practices. 4. Learn the break down of a price tag. If a Primark t-shirt costs 5€ in retail, how much of that actually goes to the garment worker? Thumbs up if you liked this video :-) If you subscribe to this channel and click on the bell, you will be notified when a new video goes live!
