http://www.troutfishingreview.com/trout-fishing/marlin-magazine-company-history Company Perspectives: Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, outdoorsman magazine and newsletter publishing skyrocketed as interest in the industry was spiked by cable television coverage and exclusive programming blocks. This interest was stoked primarily by the competition between the Outdoor Life Network and the Outdoors Channel; both networks competed for viewers in both the United States and Canada. Company History: The modern outdoors hobbyist industry is one which has been radically transformed by the proliferation of print, digital, and cable media. This transformation began in the mid-to-late 1980s, when genre-specific cable channels for outdoors hobbyists began to become widely distributed. Company Perspectives: Throughout the 1980s and early 1990s, outdoorsman magazine and newsletter publishing skyrocketed as interest in the industry was spiked by cable television coverage and exclusive programming blocks. This interest was stoked primarily by the competition between the Outdoor Life Network and the Outdoors Channel; both networks competed for viewers in both the United States and Canada. At present, Marlin Magazine is a more integral aspect than ever on the new NBC Sports network which features a pretty sizable block of programming related to the sport fishing industry. The magazine regularly is featured as part of the Bonnier-created SFTV program, which was purchased along with the Outdoor Life Network by NBC Universal Entertainment Group in 2011. With the backing of all forms of media, Marlin Magazine looks to continue dutifully serving the sport fishing and billfishing niches for a long time to come. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Fk0Wha5ZdpA&feature=youtu.be

The magazine aims to organize the bass anglers of America and promote awareness of bass fishing as a sport. Bassmaster was established to help bass anglers improve their skills through exchanging ideas among experts. Company History: The Bass Anglers Sportsman Society is an organization for bass fishermen in America and other parts of the world. The society produces Bassmaster magazine and the weekly television program Bassmasters. The organization started from Ray Scott's first tournament in 1967. Over 100 fishermen participated in the event. The simple B.A.S.S. newsletter evolved into Bassmaster magazine. The Controversies B.A.S.S. had been involved in several controversies since 1970. Notably, the society filed a lawsuit against 200 industrial defendants for violating the 1989 Refuse Act. Popular Tournaments The very first B.A.S.S. tournament was spearheaded by Ray Scott in 1967. It was called the All American Bass Tournament, and it was held at Beaver Lake, AR. There were about 106 anglers who participated in the event from 13 states. They paid $100 as an entry fee. The first winner recorded was Stan Sloan who won $2,000 in cash and a trip to Acapulco. Ray Scott decided to officially form the society in 1968. The first member was Don Butler who paid $100 to Ray Scott in exchange for a lifetime membership. The largest single day catch in the history of B.A.S.S. tournaments occured in 1969. Bassmaster Magazine at Present Bassmaster Magazine Company History is the official publication of B.A.S.S. It provides useful information to more than half a million bass anglers. 10 Big Companies That Were Exposed By Their Own Employees

10:34
These massive companies tried to hide some of the dirtiest secrets from the public! Subscribe for more amazing videos! ► http://bit.ly/Subscribe-to-Richest ◄ Is it possible for a company to become TOO big? A mom and pop shop, or a small company with just a few employees might follow all the rules by the book because they can't financially afford to be shady. But it seems that the bigger a company is, the more immune they become to being held accountable for their actions. Well, maybe not every big company is like this, but it is certainly becoming a huge issue in the world. Just because you work for a large company, it doesn’t mean that things are always running smoothly. For example, a big company like Amazon has been outed for not treating their employees very well. Plus, they're providing software to local authorities that might even be a violation of our privacy. Even the news station Fox News is being held accountable by a former employee for being blatantly biased. Whether it’s warehouse conditions, shady business dealings, or trying to cover up questionable actions, employees are quick to point out when a big company is in the wrong. Given that some employees sign a contract saying that they won’t reveal company secrets, they are risking so much in coming forward. They could be faced with lawsuits or lose their jobs. The next time you decide to give your money to a store, or watch a certain TV show, you might want to reconsider who you give your time and money too. Luckily, a few of these companies have actually changed their behavior because of the whistleblowers. But there are others who've simply swept the issue under the rug instead of trying to fix it. Hopefully, if things don’t change, there will be more employees who will expose these behaviors and will pioneer a time of change. HISTORY OF THE HELICOPTER 1950s SHELL OIL COMPANY FILM 32122

20:53
Made in the 1950s by the Shell Oil Co., this film "History of the Helicopter" features a look at the revolutionary machine that, at the time the film was made, had only recently come into wide use. The film features a brief look back at some of the failed attempts to build a helicopter, and discusses Breguet, Sikorsky, Berliner and others who were convinced that rotary wings were the answer to the problem of flying. The film also shows the autogiro, a relative of the helicopter. Modern helicopters shown include the Bristol 171, the Airhorse by Cierva, Sikorsky S-51, Piasecki flying banana, and the Fairey Gyrodyne. The Cierva W.11 Air Horse was a helicopter developed by the Cierva Autogiro Company in the United Kingdom during the mid-1940s. The largest helicopter in the world at the time of its debut, the Air Horse was unusual for using three rotors mounted on outriggers, and driven by a single engine mounted inside the fuselage. Louis Charles Breguet (January 2, 1880 in Paris – May 4, 1955 in Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France) was a French aircraft designer and builder, one of the early aviation pioneers. In 1905, with his brother Jacques, and under the guidance of Charles Richet, he began work on a gyroplane (the forerunner of the helicopter) with flexible wings. It achieved the first ascent of a vertical-flight aircraft with a pilot in 1907. He built his first fixed-wing aircraft, the Breguet Type I in 1909, flying it successfully before crashing it at the Grande Semaine d'Aviation held at Reims. In 1911 he founded the Société anonyme des ateliers d’aviation Louis Breguet. In 1912, Breguet constructed his first hydroplane. He is especially known for his development of reconnaissance aircraft used by the French in World War I and through the 1920s. One of the pioneers in the construction of metal aircraft, the Breguet 14 single-engined day bomber, perhaps one of the most widely used French warplanes of its time, had an airframe constructed almost entirely of aluminium structural members. As well as the French, sixteen squadrons of the American Expeditionary Force also used it. In 1919, he founded the Compagnie des messageries aériennes, which evolved into Air France. Over the years, his aircraft set several records. A Breguet plane made the first nonstop crossing of the South Atlantic in 1927. Another made a 4,500-mile (7,200 km) flight across the Atlantic Ocean in 1933, the longest nonstop Atlantic flight up to that time. He returned to his work on the gyroplane in 1935. Created with co-designer René Dorand, the craft, called the Gyroplane Laboratoire, flew by a combination of blade flapping and feathering. On December 22, 1935, it established a speed record of 67 mph (108 km/h). It was the first to demonstrate speed as well as good control characteristics. The next year, it set an altitude record of 517 feet (158 m). Breguet remained an important manufacturer of aircraft during World War II and afterwards developed commercial transports. Breguet’s range equation, for determining aircraft range, is also named after him. He died of a heart attack in 1955 at Saint-Germain-en-Laye. Tradition: 1958-1994 Casadei was founded in 1958,in a small workshop in San Mauro Pascoli, where Quinto and Flora Casadei created the first collection of sandals designed for tourists holidaying on the Italian Riviera. It was the time of the economic boom and the "Made-in-Italy" miracle. In just ten years, the workshop was transformed into a small, highly specialized footwear business which exported its products to Germany and the USA. During the Seventies, its growth continued with the first advertising campaigns, exports to Japan and the opening, in 1977, of its first single-brand store in Brussels. The Eighties, instead, saw consolidation of the brand on international markets including, first and foremost, the Middle East. The new generation: 1994 1994 was the most difficult yet important year: it represented a passage of rite between one generation and the next when Cesare Cadei, Quinto and Flora' son, joined the company as its creative director. Cesare's strength was his all-round vision of the company, thanks to know-how acquired on-site which he experienced first-hand from production to marketing right up to creativity. Cesare was the link between two worlds: on the one the hand, the pioneers of "Made-in-Italy" craftsmanship and, on the other, the managers and designers whose task it was to promote the image of the brand on an international level. Growth: 2000-2010 In the year two thousand, Casadei decided to consolidate his roots of high-class artisan tradition: skins, colours and styles were created on an exclusive basis using dedicated suppliers. The footwear industrialization process subsequently became a jewel of craftsmanship, a heritage that it was impossible to imitate. At the same time, he continued with the modernization of distribution and communication. In 2002, the Milanese showroom relocated to Via dell'Annunciata, where, following a recent restyling operation, it is still headquartered today. Sales continued to increase, followed by the opening of a series of single-brand boutiques. During these years, international celebrities were photographed wearing Casadei creations on their feet, thus consolidating the brand in the eyes of the fashion system. At the same time, the best-known talents of photography, including names of the calibre of Nick Knight, Mario Testino, Javier Vallhonrat and Raymond Meier, were chosen to shoot the company's advertising campaigns. In 2008, Ellen von Unwerth, was commissioned to commemorate the brand's 50-year-old history with a book and an exhibition that trace all the moments that made this miracle of style possible. Developments and the future To-date, the business boasts a growth rate of +20% per year, with 16 flagship stores, a new showroom in New York, the opening of corners and shop-in-shops in Russia as well as expansion towards China and the Middle East. In spite of the recession, the Italian market continues to grow, based, above all, on brand awareness, superior quality and undying customer loyalty. In addition to the traditional retail network, the company has now entered the era of the Internet with its new www.casadei.com website, a virtual reflection of the aesthetics and creativity of the brand which will soon be completed with an e-commerce venture to satisfy the new requirements of the hyper-connected global market. Furthermore, Casadei is currently working on a number of special projects including the collaboration with the up-and-coming international designer Prabal Gurung, a young, rising star of American fashion, for whom Casadei has developed the footwear for his 2013 Spring/Summer collection.

Machine Shop Work: Single Point Cutting Tools: End Cutting Tools 1942 US Office of Education

Six representative tools are shown and the various uses and characteristics of each discussed in detail. The film opens with views of the grooving and nicking tool. The parts of the tool are named, pointed out, and the relationship of each part to the other parts of the tool are explained. Attention is called by picture and commentary to the end cutting edge and to the fact that this is the widest part of the cutting end. Closeup views of the grooving tool in action serve to explain why all end cutting tools have a minimum heel clearance and are usually set on the center line and square with the work." Produced by the Calvin Company. Originally a public domain film, slightly cropped to remove uneven edges, with the aspect ratio corrected, and one-pass brightness-contrast-color correction & mild video noise reduction applied. The soundtrack was also processed with volume normalization, noise reduction, clipping reduction, and/or equalization (the resulting sound, though not perfect, is far less noisy than the original). https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tool_bit Wikipedia license: http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ A tool bit is a non-rotary cutting tool used in metal lathes, shapers, and planers. Such cutters are also often referred to by the set-phrase name of single-point cutting tool, as distinguished from other cutting tools such as a saw or water jet cutter. The cutting edge is ground to suit a particular machining operation and may be resharpened or reshaped as needed. The ground tool bit is held rigidly by a tool holder while it is cutting... Back rake is to help control the direction of the chip... Side Rake along with back rake controls the chip flow and partly counteracts the resistance of the work to the movement of the cutter... Nose Radius makes the finish of the cut smoother... Materials Steels Originally, all tool bits were made of high carbon tool steels with the appropriate hardening and tempering. Since the introductions of high-speed steel (HSS) (early years of the 20th century), sintered carbide (1930s), ceramic and diamond cutters, those materials have gradually replaced the earlier kinds of tool steel... Most tool bits today are made of HSS, cobalt steel, or carbide. Carbides and ceramics Carbide, ceramics (such as cubic boron nitride) and diamond, having higher hardness than HSS, all allow faster material removal than HSS in most cases... The cutting edge is usually either screwed or clamped on (in this case it is called an insert), or brazed on to a steel shank (this is usually only done for carbide)... Inserts Almost all high-performance cutting tools use indexable inserts... History Tool bits have been used for centuries... A substantial technological advance occurred in the 1890–1910 period, when Frederick Winslow Taylor applied scientific methods to the study of tool bits and their cutting performance (including their geometry, metallurgy, and heat treatment, and the resulting speeds and feeds, depths of cut, metal-removal rates, and tool life). Along with Maunsel White and various assistants, he developed high speed steels... he also determined optimum geometry (rake angles, clearance angles, nose radiuses, etc.). He developed Taylor's Equation for Tool Life Expectancy. After Taylor, it was no longer taken for granted that the black art of individual craftsmen represented the highest level of metalworking technology... Stellite soon joined high speed steels as a material for single-point cutters. Although diamond turning had been around for a long time, it was not until these new, expensive metals came about that the idea of cutting inserts became commonly applied in machining. Before this, most single-point cutters were forged entirely of tool steel (then ground at the tip)... Between 1900 and 1950, it was still not uncommon for a machinist to forge a tool from carbon tool steel. Today, among the single-point cutters used in mass production (such as of automotive parts), insert tools using carbide and ceramic far outnumber HSS or cobalt steel tools. In other machining contexts (e.g., job shops, toolrooms, and hobbyist practice), the latter are still well represented..
