What HR Managers Learn About You By Looking at Your Clothes

09:03
If you want to get your dream job, it’s crucially important to make the best possible first impression on the recruiter, and everything, including your style, means a lot. There are five vital things you should know that hiring professionals use to form their opinions about you and decide if you will fit into the corporate culture and get the job or not. Sherry Maysonave, head of Empowerment Enterprises, an image consulting firm based in Austin, Texas, says that the first impression happens in less than 30 seconds and it’s based entirely on your attire. Using the color of your clothes, you can influence other people however you want. Pastel colors in clothes and makeup can help you win other people’s trust. The most important thing is not to overdo it. Blue is probably the best color choice for a job interview, unless you’re aiming for a creative job. The color red represents the life force and the inclination to be successful and efficient. Business suits are not always the best choice for a job interview because the impression you may give the employer is that you are “overqualified.” A tasteful statement dress that doesn’t reveal your neckline and ends around 1 inch above the very top of your knee will do just fine. Your attire should be as close to the company dress code as possible. People are more eager to accept other people who are like them, so the more you look like the other employees, the easier it is for an HR manager to imagine you working with them. Music: https://www.youtube.com/audiolibrary/music TIMESTAMPS What the colors of your clothes say about you 0:33 What the style of your clothes says about you 3:21 What your brands say about you 5:07 Illustrative details 5:47 How well can you fit into the corporate culture 6:52 SUMMARY -Blue is probably the best color choice for a job interview. If you choose clothes with contrasting colors, you could make a powerful and dominant impression. The worst color choice for a job interview, according to studies and opinions of specialists, is orange — it’s often associated with something unprofessional. -A business quit is the perfect choice if a manager is hiring for a senior-level position, a flower print dress won’t do in this case. But if you are looking for a job teaching children or a creative job, this type of attire is not just appropriate, but also preferable. -It’s better to impress your prospective employee with your professional achievements and attitude to work than with luxury brand logos. -Bad manicure, old clothes, and other little flaws, can make a very negative impression. Wear small and elegant pieces of jewelry like small earrings, bracelets, and watches. Your bag should have a clear shape. -Use social media to find out all about the company dress code and try to look like the other employees at the interview. Training Human Resources

38:10
Training represents a significant expenditure for most employers. However, it has historically been viewed tactically rather than strategically, which means that training is seen as a short-term activity rather than one that has longer-term effects on organizational success. Training is the development and delivery of information people will use in their jobs. To be a strategic investment, training must align with company goals and contribute to the achievement of key performance indicators. In other words, it must produce positive results. Without ongoing training, organizations may not have staff members with the knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSAs) needed to compete effectively. Building the capacity for all employees to work smoothly with diverse individuals is essential to competitive success. Certain legal compliance considerations will ensure the effectiveness of your training and development initiatives. Accurate recordkeeping related to required training is important to demonstrate that the company is meeting its obligations. Orientation, which is the planned introduction of new employees to their jobs, coworkers, and the organization, is offered by most employers. Successfully integrating new hires is important, and measuring the degree of success allows the orientation program to be managed well. The way in which a firm plans, organizes, and structures its training affects the way employees experience the training, which in turn influences the effectiveness of the training. While there are five distinct phases to the ISD process, in most cases, the phases overlap. Although the process appears to be linear, it is actually iterative. It is common to recycle back to an earlier phase when information is uncovered at later stages. Ideally, management looks at training needs in relation to strategic plans and as part of the organizational change process. Then training needs can be prioritized on the basis of objectives. Conducting the training most needed to improve organizational performance will produce visible results more quickly. Training design is all about creating content that meets your audience’s learning and development needs. Learner readiness means that individuals have the ability to learn, have the motivation to learn, have high confidence, see value in learning, and have a learning style that fits the training. The success of training efforts depends on understanding and adapting training to the needs of the learner. Practice, feedback, overlearning, behavioral modeling, error-based examples, and reinforcement are strategies that are frequently used when designing a training experience. Closely related is an instructional strategy called immediate confirmation, which is based on the idea that people learn best if they receive reinforcement and feedback as soon as possible after exhibiting a response. Immediate confirmation corrects errors that, if made and not corrected throughout the training, might establish an undesirable pattern that would need to be unlearned. It also aids with the transfer of training to the job. Internal training generally addresses topics specific to the organization and its jobs. Effective internal training programs have the potential to be good for both employer and employee. External training, or training that takes place outside the organization, is used extensively by organizations of all sizes. Whether training is delivered internally or externally, appropriate training must be chosen. E-learning is the use of web-based technology to conduct training online. Training results can be examined through cost–benefit analysis, which compares costs and benefits associated with training. Training evaluation is the process by which you can determine if you have met those objectives and whether there is a better and cheaper way in which to do so in the future. Organizations invest billions of dollars and countless hours in training employees. These investments should support the goals of the organization and result in benefits to both the employees and the company. Thoughtful design, delivery, and evaluation of training offer the greatest probability of achieving success.

HR Basics: Employee Relations 2e

11:51
HR Basics is a series of short courses, designed to highlight what you need to know about a particular human resource management topic. In this HR basics, we explore employee relations, how to manage the relationship of employees with the organization and with each other. Employee relations involves managing the relationship of employees with the organization and with each other. At it’s core, employee relations includes the processes of developing, implementing, administering and analyzing the employer-employee relationship, including: Maintaining organizational culture, Developing employee engagement, Resolving workplace conflict, Conducting workplace investigations, and Managing employee discipline. Culture is shared patterns of difference in an organization. Culture is simply ‘how’ we do things around here. A simple model highlights three key elements of organizational culture – an organization’s values, behaviors, mission. The better you are at articulating your culture, the more successful you will be in attracting people that believe in and help fulfill the mission. Employee engagement relates to the level of an employee's commitment and connection to an organization. Engaged employees as those who are involved in, enthusiastic about and committed to their work and workplace. Workplace conflict occurs when the concerns of two or more people appear to be incompatible. Because no two individuals have exactly the same expectations and desires, conflict is a natural part of our interactions with others. The Thomas Kilmann Instrument (TKI) is an assessment that identifies five common styles or strategies for dealing with conflict, called conflict modes. The TKI was designed to illustrate the options we have when handling conflict. The TKI defines five approaches to resolving conflict, we’ll get to those in a minute. The TKI is a fast and accessible tool, delivering insight, empowerment and resolution to anyone involved in conflict. By identifying alternative conflict styles, it helps people reframe and defuse conflict, creating more productive results. A workplace investigation is designed to find facts and determine what happened or what is happening in a situation. The initiation of an investigation is almost always the result of a report or complaint. An individual or group has informed the organization that something is wrong. Discipline is a process of corrective action used to enforce organizational rules. The two most common approaches to discipline are positive discipline and progressive discipline. The positive discipline approach builds on the philosophy that violations are actions that usually can be corrected constructively without penalty. Progressive discipline incorporates steps that become progressively more severe and are designed to change the employee’s inappropriate behavior. An organization with a good employee relations program provides fair and consistent treatment to all employees so they will be committed to their jobs and loyal to the company.

What is HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING? What does HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING mean?

What is HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING? What does HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING mean? HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING meaning - HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING definition - HUMAN RESOURCE CONSULTING explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ The human resource consulting industry has emerged from management consulting and addresses human resource management tasks and decisions. HR Consultants can fill two typical roles (1) Expert Resource Consultant (2) Process/People consultant. These two roles are defined by Steele F. (1975), Kubr,M. (1993, 1996); Niedereicholz (1996), Curnow-Reuvid (2003) and Kipping, K. and Clarck (2014). The Expert Resource Consultant suggests solutions based on expertise and experience and assists in the implementation. The role is very typical in information benchmarking and design consulting (see examples of actual design practices in the subsequent section below). The Process/People consultant assists in searching for solutions with methods that facilitate and raise creativity of the client company so that they will be able to implement solutions themselves. The role is traditionally demonstrated by organizational development and change consulting. The following are core fields around which most human resource consultancies are based: Employee engagement: measure employee engagement levels through surveys and interviews, define and improve performance in employee engagement and retention. While this area of HR consulting is necessarily broad, encapsulating total rewards strategy, employee performance management, leadership transformation, and organisation structure design, most companies do have very specialised independent practices. Compensation: design and manage compensation programs related to basic salary, bonuses, and stock plans. Evaluation of positions and building of salary structures, bonus plans and stock plans for clients are common. Specialisations are often based on employee types (e.g. Executive compensation consultants and sales compensation consultants). Employee benefits: optimize benefit plan design and administration (inclusive of health-related benefits) by assessing competitiveness and effectiveness of benefit plans (analytics and design), and cost-effectiveness and quality of vendors (brokerage). Actuarial and retirement: provide actuarial and administration services to manage cost and effectiveness of retirement programs, including defined benefit and defined contribution plans. Mergers and acquisitions: conduct human capital due diligence, coordinate and administer cross-functional activities during execution, including payroll and HR technology. Align organizational cultures and work styles during post-merger integration. Talent mobility: Provides the insight and execution for full international expatriates (usually for executives) or local plus (partial-package expatriates), from pre-move informative guide, to post-move expat management program. Other services may also include legal counseling, global initiatives, investments consulting, and the implementation of human resource technologies to facilitate human capital management.
