Improving Your Cursive Handwriting

03:51
A couple of quick tips to improving your cursive handwriting -- which seems to be something almost everyone wants to do after they get their first fountain pen. The pen I'm writing with is a Pilot Metropolitan with a Fine nib. The writing style is something I derived from one commonly used in the age of dip pens -- when it was important, if not imperative, to be legible since it was your only option. I call it CJ Roundhand. Here's a video I (finally) made about it: http://youtu.be/9uWXrcTuzJE And a demo: https://youtu.be/KMkrdPu7K7c LINKS: Twitter: https://twitter.com/_cjcs_ Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/cjs.creative.studio/ Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/cjcs Website: http://cjcs.com

The Letter D in an 'Italian' Style Accented Engrosser's / Roundhand Pointed Pen Calligraphy Script

00:57
Real time calligraphy recording of both a capital and a lowercase letter 'd' written in a variant of Engrosser's / Roundhand with 'Italian' style accents and styling on the capital. Italian is a vague term in this context that was often used by practitioners to denote a script intended to be paired with a more commonly styled one. It rarely indicates one way or the other whether the origin of the script is/was actually Italy. As a consequence there are numerous historical scripts labeled as 'Italian' that seem to have little visual relationship to each other. This was done using one of my hand carved ergonomic nib holders with a leonardt principal ef nib in Higgins eternal ink on lined Rhodia paper. I went pretty heavy on the shades for fun :D If I were using this script in a piece I'd probably lighten it up a bit unless it was going to be for a big, dramatic title of some sort. Music playing while I was writing is from Missing Vwls. I'll be doing videos of the whole alphabet in this style. Palatino is the name of an old-style serif typeface designed by Hermann Zapf, initially released in 1949 by the Stempel foundry and later by other companies, most notably the Mergenthaler Linotype Company.[a] Named after the 16th-century Italian master of calligraphy Giambattista Palatino, Palatino is based on the humanist types of the Italian Renaissance, which mirror the letters formed by a broad nib pen reflecting Zapf's expertise as a calligrapher.[4] Its capital 'Y' is in the unusual 'palm Y' style, inspired by the Greek letter upsilon, a trait found in some of the earliest versions of the letter such as that of Aldus Manutius.[5] Unlike most Renaissance typeface revivals, which tend to have delicate proportions such as a low x-height (short lower-case letters and longer ascenders and descenders), Palatino has larger proportions, increasing legibility.[6][7] Palatino was particularly intended as a design for trade or 'jobbing' use, such as headings, advertisements and display printing, and was created with a solid, wide structure and wide apertures that could appear clearly on poor-quality paper, when read at a distance or printed at small sizes... The Letter R in an 'Italian' Style Accented Engrosser's / Roundhand Pointed Pen Calligraphy Script

01:00
Real time calligraphy recording of both a capital and a lowercase letter 'r' written in a variant of Engrosser's / Roundhand with 'Italian' style accents and styling on the capital. Deberny Fonts from Typorium

01:04
Deberny Fonts from Typorium Deberny Fonts from Typorium About this font 1800s,alternates,anct,anrt,audagroupe,audascribe,balzac,billboard,billboards,branding The Deberny typeface is an interpretationcarrying a contemporary imprintof a typographic style which appeared and spread at the end of the 19th century until the begining of the 20th. These typefaces were named Italian, Venetian, Veronese and were classified in the Hellenic category, a spontaneous typographic movement caracterized by triangular and heavy serifs. They found their inspiration among numerous references, from incised to slab serif typefaces and their extreme expressions in wood type letterforms. More The Deberny font family is made of 26 styles in 3 complementary sets of style, offering a wide palette of visual resonance: Deberny Line is ideally suited for editorial, branding, posters and billboards. It has sharp contrast between thick and thin strokes. Heavy horizontal strokes are not frequent in roman letters, but here they fit naturally with the italic letters. Deberny Open is a stylish outline declination of Deberny Line Medium and Medium Italic. Deberny Text is an adaptation of Deberny Line made for broader use. Its shapes are less contrasted, which makes it perfectly legible for print or screen reading in small size text. Old style figures and small caps complete Deberny Text in all its 8 styles. The Deberny typeface family supports Latin-based languages and will be available soon in Cyrillic and Greek. Deberny Narrow will be released this year in all its 26 styles. CANADA FACTS | Italian Expat Life: How's Living In Canada

11:42
Hi everybody, welcome to my channel! Thank you for watching. I'm Silvia, and here I tell about my journey as an expat in Canada, hoping to motivate other travelers, inspire to chase dreams and live life to the fullest. This channel has videos both in ITA and ENG, so be sure to turn the subtitles on :) ► CANADA FACTS - Italian Expat Life: How's Living In Canada Here's my second video from "CANADA FACTS", a series of clips about living in Canada as an expat. I'll tell you about funny facts, Canadian lifestyle and culture, and how's living in Canada as an immigrant (and most of all as an Italian girl!). Adjusting to the expat life in Canada took me a while: there are a few differences between Canada and Europe, especially Southern Europe. But no worries: after a while I got used to the Canadian living style, and I started to love it! ► ABOUT ME Born and raised in Rome, Italy, I moved to Milan in 2014 by myself to do my post-graduate. It's been the best choice of my life: thanks to this experience, I grew up and started to know myself truly. I had the desire to live abroad since years, to see how life was outside Italy and open up my mind to different worlds. Then I decided to face a bigger challenge, grab the chance to apply for a Working Holiday Visa and follow my gut and heart all the way to Canada. ► WHY "SAIL TO THE MOON"? I know at least a couple of people who could see moving from Italy to Canada such an audacious move that it's like going to another planet 🙈 Jokes aside, I've always been fascinated by the moon and "Sail To The Moon" is kind of a message I want to send to the world through my videos. It's about setting bigger goals and keep pushing yourself further, stepping out of your comfort zone, grabbing chances, drifting the beaten path and living life as a challenge, an everlasting journey where we never stop learning. This channel is a place for exploring and making new experiences; then growing, changing, self-improving, in other words trying to reach the moon :) ► ENJOYED MY VIDEO? Maestro Font Download

01:08
Download Maestro Font http://ywft.us/201ef30e2 Out of a lifelong inner struggle, Philip Bouwsma unleashes a masterpiece that reconciles classic calligraphy with type in a way never before attempted. Maestro takes its cue from the Italian chancery cursive of the early sixteenth century. By this time type ruled the publishing world, but official court documents were still presented in calligraphy, in a new formal style of the high Renaissance that was integrated with Roman letters and matched the refined order of type. The copybooks of Arrighi and others, printed from engraved wood blocks, spread the Italian cancellaresca across Europe, but the medium was too clumsy and the size too small to show what was really happening in the stroke. Arrighi and others also made metal fonts that pushed type in the direction of calligraphy, but again the medium did not support the superb artistry of these masters or sustain the vitality in their work. As the elegant sensitive moving stroke of the broad pen was reduced to a static outline, the human quality, the variety and the excitement of a living act were lost. Because the high level of skill could not be reproduced, the broad pen was largely replaced by the pointed tool. The modern italic handwriting revival is based on a simplified model and does not approach the level of this formal calligraphy with its relationship to the Roman forms. Maestro is the font that Arrighi and his colleagues would have made if they had had digital technology. Like the calligraphic system of the papal chancery on which it is modelled, it was not drawn as a single finished alphabet, but evolved from a confluence of script and Roman; the script is formalized by the Roman to stand proudly in a world of type. Maestro came together on screen over the course of several years, through many versions ranging widely in style, formality, width, slant, weight and other parameters. On one end of the spectrum, looking back to tradition it embodies the formal harmony of the Roman capitals and the minuscule which became the lower case. On the other it is a flowing script letter drawing on the spirit of later pointed pen and engravers scripts. As its original designers intended, it works with simple Roman capitals and serifs or swash capitals and baroque flourishes. The broad pen supplies weight and substance to the stroke which carries energy through tension in balanced s-curves. Above all it is meant to convey the life and motion of formal calligraphy as a worthy counterbalance to the stolid gravity of metal type. The Maestro family consists of forty fonts distributed over two weights. The OpenType version compresses the family considerably down to two fonts, regular and bold, each containing the entire character set of twenty fonts, for a total of more than 3350 characters per font. These include a wide variety of stylistic alternates, ligatures, beginning and ending letters, flourishes, borders, rules, and other extras. The Pro version also includes extended linguistic support for Latin-based scripts (Western, Central and Eastern European, Baltic, Turkish, Welsh/Celtic, Maltese) as well as Greek. For more thoughts on Maestro, its background and character sets, please read the PDF accompanying the family.
