3. Oracle database Installation With ASM: Add Hard Disk, Create partition & transfer software

19:39
Automatic Storage Management (ASM) is a feature that has be introduced in Oracle 10g to simplify the storage of Oracle datafiles, controlfiles, logfiles and backups. ASM will be used as the file system and volume manager for Oracle Database files (data, online redo logs, control files, archived redo logs), and the Fast Recovery Area. NOTE: ASMLib in the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. ASMLib – Linux specific ASM library and its associated driver. The Oracle ASMLib kernel driver is now included in the Unbreakable Enterprise Kernel. No driver package needs to be installed when using this kernel. The oracleasm-support and oracleasmlib packages still need to be installed. The oracleasm-support can be installed from Oracle Linux ISO image. For other Linux flavors could be found here – (Download section for particular Linux distribution) The oracleasmlib can be downloaded from ULN (Unbreakable Linux Network), subscription is required. Non-subscribers are free to use the similar package built for RHEL on their Enterprise Linux machines, which we will use in this tutorial. Action plan: 1. Installing Oracle Enterprise Linux and creating virtual hard disks in VMware for ASM disks 2. Creating recommended OS groups and user for Grid Infrastructure 3. Creating login scripts for grid and oracle users 4. Installing Oracle ASM packages 5. Creating ASM disk volumes 6. Downloading and installing Oracle Grid Infrastructure software 7. Creating ASM disk groups 8. Installing Oracle database software and create database instance

CentOS Linux 7.4 (1708) Installation + Guest Additions on Oracle VirtualBox [2017]

13:55
This video tutorial shows CentOS Linux 7.4 installation on Oracle VirtualBox step by step. This tutorial is also helpful to install CentOS 7.4 on physical computer or laptop hardware. We also install Guest Additions on CentOS Linux for better performance and usability features: Automatic Resizing Guest Display, Shared Folder, Seamless Mode and Shared Clipboard, Improved Performance and Drag and Drop. Steps: 1- Create Virtual Machine on Oracle VirtualBox 2- Start CentOS 7.4 Installation 3- Install VirtualBox Guest Additions on CentOS 7.4 4- Test Guest Additions Features: Automatic Resizing Guest Display and Shared Clipboard CentOS Linux 7.4 (1708) New Features and Improvements CentOS is a distribution built from the source code of Red Hat Enterprise Linux. The CentOS project has announced the availability of a new update to the distribution, releasing CentOS 7-1708 which is derived from Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7.4. Various new packages include among others: python-gssapi, python-netifaces, mod_auth_openidc, Pidgin and Qt 5. SSH1 support has been removed from the SSH server. Along with this move, all cryptographic protocols and algorithms which are considered insecure have been deprecated. OpenSSL now supports DTLS (TLS via UDP) and ALPN. NVMe Over Fabric is now supported in the NVM Express kernel driver. There have been various changes and enhancements to cryptographic abilities of various packages - Sendmail now supports ECDHE, OpenSSH now uses SHA2 for public key signatures, among others. CentOS Website: https://www.centos.org/ Download CentOS 7.4-1708 ISO: https://www.centos.org/download/ CentOS Linux 7.4 Minimum System Requirements Red Hat recommends minimum of 200 MB of disk space for a typical installation. Large test lab environments can require 2 GB to support the complete deployment, including product binaries, databases, and log files. Very large directories may require 4 GB and above. Red Hat suggests 256 MB of RAM for average environments and 1 GB of RAM for large test lab environments for increased performance. Hope you found it informative and useful.
