Aurora borealis over UK, Northern Lights

01:10
Northern Lights, Aurora borealis lights up Britain's night sky Полярное сияние (северное сияние) — свечение (люминесценция) верхних слоёв атмосфер планет, обладающих магнитосферой, вследствие их взаимодействия с заряженными частицами солнечного ветра. An aurora is a natural light display in the sky, predominantly seen in the high latitude (Arctic and Antarctic) regions. Auroras are produced when the magnetosphere is sufficiently disturbed by the solar wind that the trajectories of charged particles in both solar wind and magnetospheric plasma, mainly in the form of electrons and protons, precipitate them into the upper atmosphere (thermosphere/exosphere), where their energy is lost.

Once seen, it is never forgotten. AuroraWatch UK allows you to monitor geomagnetic activity in real time, and will let you know when aurora may be visible from the UK. We offer free alerts to notify you whenever aurora is likely to be seen from the UK. Pictures of the aurora australis Images of the aurora australis and aurora borealis from around the world, including those with rarer red and blue lights An aurora is a natural light display in the sky, predominantly seen in the high latitude (Arctic and Antarctic) regions.[nb 1] Auroras are produced when the magnetosphere is sufficiently disturbed by the solar wind that the trajectories of charged particles in both solar wind and magnetospheric plasma, mainly in the form of electrons and protons, precipitate them into the upper atmosphere (thermosphere/exosphere), where their energy is lost. The resulting ionization and excitation of atmospheric constituents emits light of varying colour and complexity. The form of the aurora, occurring within bands around both polar regions, is also dependent on the amount of acceleration imparted to the precipitating particles. Precipitating protons generally produce optical emissions as incident hydrogen atoms after gaining electrons from the atmosphere. Proton auroras are usually observed at lower latitudes. Red and green lights were visible from the north of Scotland to as far south as Jersey. The incredible sight was also visible in places such as Gloucestershire, Essex and Norfolk. They were also spotted in southern parts of Norway on Tuesday in another unusual display, as the lights don't usually shine as brightly in the south. Northern Lights time lapse taken at Sandsend Nr Whitby North Yorkshire UK 2nd Sept 2016

01:07
Sandsend Aurora time lapse taken in the early hours of Fri 2nd September. This time lapse is made up of just over a thousand individual photos taken over a three hour period, each photo was a 10 second exposure at f1.4 & at 1250 iso I used a Sigma 20mm prime lens fitted to a canon 5d mk3. At the peak of the Aurora display it was well visible with the naked eye especially the pillars/spikes, although the colours were very faint…..the green was just to say visible and the pillars/spikes were a very pale blue. Well worth staying out till the early hours!!

You might be able to see the Northern Lights in the UK tonight

05:09
GET your cameras at the ready as the aurora borealis will be visible from parts of Britain tonight.Forget going to Iceland, Sweden or Norway – stargazers across certain parts of the UK might be able to glimpse the spectacular Northern Lights tonight.  The largest solar flare in a decade occurs on Wednesday September 6, according to scientists. According to Alistair McLean, Managing Director of The Aurora Zone, the Northern Lights might be visible from the UK again tonight. He said: “The CMEs’ arrival is expected to trigger a G3 magnetic storm in the atmosphere which, in turn, will create more prolific Northern Lights displays in northern territories and maybe some sightings in areas well beyond the usual boundaries. “It is, therefore, a possibility that the Northern Lights could even be viewed in Southern England.”Both the Space Weather Prediction Center and National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) believe outstanding displays will occur tonight (September 8). However it's very dependant on the weather so keep your eyes glued to the weather guide – rain and cloud will prevent it from being visible. The Aurora Borealis, form when charged particles from the sun penetrate the earth's magnetic field and collide with atoms and molecules to create bursts of light. The Northern Lights are is most commonly spotted in Norway and Sweden but recently solar activity has been increasing with the light shows occasionally visible in the skies above the UK.Northern Lights travel expert, Jonny Cooper, founder of Off the Map Travel, said: "The beauty of nature and the Northern Lights is it's difficult to predict. "We would recommend finding a spot with clear dark skies away from any pollution, look north and be patient. "It just takes a break in the cloud to see the Aurora and it's well worth the adventure."Seeing the Northern Lights topped Brits’ Bucket Lists, in a recent survey with 45% of people saying it was their number one travel goal – so make sure you jump on a train and head north this evening. Top tips for seeing the Lights: 1. Wait until at least 30 minutes after sunset, due just after 6.30pm 3. Wait until the cloud clears and for your eyes to get used to the darkness 4. Stay far away from artificial light sourcesIf you're a bit too far south to spot the lights tonight, start planning a trip to Iceland. November to March is the best time to visit and you have more of a chance of seeing them if you go at a time of the month when the moon is small. It's a good idea to stay somewhere that has outdoor hot tubs as you can sit out in the warm and watch the night sky for any glimpses of the phenomenon.

Northern Lights Could Return to Britain Tonight

00:53
Experts say the Northern Lights may return to Britain Wednesday night just days after stargazers were treated to sightings as far south as Cornwall. Both NASA’s Space Weather Prediction Center and the MET office have suggested that the latest Coronal Mass Ejection from the Sun will “enhance geomagnetic conditions to G3 levels in the early hours of June 25.” Weather conditions permitting – the Northern Lights are only visible when the skies are clear – this could mean further sightings over Britain. AuroraWatchUK, which is based at Lancaster University, confirmed the chance of further sightings and issued an amber alert on Wednesday morning. The alert indicates that “aurora is likely to be visible from Scotland, northern England and Northern Ireland." http://telegraph.feedsportal.com/c/32726/f/564430/s/478954a9/sc/26/l/0L0Stelegraph0O0Ctravel0Cdestinations0Ceurope0Cuk0C11696410A0CNorthern0ELights0Ecould0Ereturn0Eto0EBritain0Etonight0Bhtml/story01.htm http://www.wochit.com This video was produced by Wochit using http://wochit.com

Aurora Borealis (Northern Lights) seen over Robin Hood's Bay, North Yorkshire

00:36
www.joeburnphotography.co.uk The Aurora Borealis was out in full force, dancing over Robin Hood’s Bay and the North Sea. This time-lapse sequence consists of 300 long-exposure still photographs, taken between 00:30-01:30 (21/12/15) It’s very rare for the Northern Lights to be seen this far south, especially as strong as they were! Luckily it was a relatively clear night so I took my chances and drove to Ravenscar, a small coastal town situated on the East coast of Yorkshire. It proved to be a great location, with an elevated viewpoint from the sea cliffs offering uninterrupted views to the north and some boulders that I used for foreground interest. I decided to frame my shot with the quant fishing village of Robin Hood’s Bay in, adding a sense of scale to the colossal light show that was taking place all the way across the horizon. Thanks for watching. Camera: Canon EOS 5D Mark III Lens: Samyang 14mm F/2.8 Shutter Speed: 10 seconds Aperture: F/4 ISO: 800 Music: Light of Life - Dexter Britain

Aurora Borealis Dazzles in the Night Sky Over the UK

01:01
They're a more regular sight at this time of the year for people who live in northern parts of Europe, but seeing the Aurora Borealis or Northern Lights is a rare treat for most people in the UK. A geomagnetic storm, which is just one notch below the highest category of solar storm, was behind the display. The storm is the result of a pair of coronal mass ejections, or CMEs, that left the Sun on March 15 and are now interacting with Earth's atmosphere and geomagnetic field. As forecasted by the Met Office there was extensive cloud cover over most of the UK, but parts of Northern Ireland, Wales, northern England and some parts of Scotland managed to catch the multi-colour spectacle. The display was also visible in parts of the U.S., while the the Southern Lights or the Aurora Australis provided a magnificent light display in parts of Australia and New Zealand. http://feeds.mashable.com/~r/Mashable/~3/cRcS-sb_tPE/ http://www.wochit.com

[UK] Northern Lights X Big Bud Autoflower Window sill grow [Day 86]

01:15
In this video update I decided to try something different and record the video with the lights turned off and my camera light on, the reason I wanted to try this is because it allows you to fully see the colour of the leafs and the bud formations, she is smelling very fruity and delicious now and she shines with resin! yummy!! The measurements havent really changed since last video, I guess she is putting more time into filling out her bud sites rather than growing upwards and outwards. I will harvest her in about 12 or 13 days, I started the flushing process today so harvest date is for about the 2nd of august. My net video will be for before i harvest her, I will record that one in a natural light from the outdoors instead of artificial light and a dark room, I just wanted to showcase the deep green her leafs are and the frosty buds! :)
