More details at http://k21academy.com/live13 We recently had a Masterclass on Oracle WebLogic Server covering What, Why & How at http://k21academy.com/weblogic02 in that webinar there were a lot of questions. Most of these questions were answered in Webinar however not all questions were covered because of time. We'll be adding these questions over a period of time in Private Facebook Group for WebLogic Server at http://k21academy.com/weblogicqa This post covers weekly live show on our Facebook Page at http://facebook.com/k21academy covering Oracle WebLogic Server and issues reported with WebLogic Server in Oracle EBS R12.2 asked in WebLogic Masterclass at http://k21academy.com/weblogic02 Question Asked "I am working on Oracle EBS R12.2.3, My Questions is that OACore managed server is going into warning state frequently. Market Oracle Site Down for Over 12 hours, Westnic, Hetzner Hosting.

04:08
The market oracle website has now been down for over 12 hours, Completely inaccessible from anywhere in the world, through any web browser. Not even I can log into the server, not via the domain name or the IP address. Pings go nowhere, trace routes vanish when they hit HETZNER in germany As whilst our site is hosted with Westnic a US company, the actual server is in or near Nuremberg in Germany. And no we don't have one of those cheap shared hosting plans, not a semi-dedicated server either, not even one of those run of the mill $200 dollar per month dedicated hosting accounts. No we pay many hundreds of dollars a month for a top of the range dedicated sever with more than enough capacity to deal with any occasional spikes, which normally enables us to forget about the sever and focus on that which counts, posting quality content every single day of the year. But now the server parked somewhere in the middle of Germany is down, inaccessible, and it's not a sever load issue, for our top spec sever can easily take more than ten times its normal daily load , and so there would be plenty of warning of any server load issues. Instead its as though the plug was pulled around 1.30pm UK time Friday. That's best what explains what happened. So eventually some 5 hours ago Westnic got back to us that the server's hard drives were fine as they can apparently DRAC into it whatever that means, so conclude that there could be other hardware failures either the network card or the data centres router and they had a technician looking into it. Well that was over 5 hours ago and were still were sat here at 2am UK time, how long does it take to replace a network card ? 15minutes, 20 minutes, I'm sure a practiced technician can do it in under 10mintues. Hopefully the market oracle site will be back up and running Saturday mid-day, else I will be seriously pissed off with Westnic, 12 hours is more than enough time to rectify what apparently is a simple network card issue, if that is the issue. I'm suspect it's something else related to HETZNER in Germany for that is where the trace routes go dead, just before they are supposed to find their way into our server, they go DEAD. Your analyst hoping this is not part of a wider danger faced by UK websites, one of an increasingly bitter European Union's opening shots against UK Brexit supporting websites, after all 2017 is is election year in Germany, in which I am sure the german elite fear their own Brexit moment that literally risks blowing the European Union apart. So I would not be surprised if the German elites have not implemented an Anti GerExit plan which involves cleansing the internet under their control of all things Brexit. So a warning to all UK web sites that you may want to seriously consider pulling your sites off of EU based severs and either host them back in the UK or the US, else you too could get your sites plug pulled by those acting in the interests of the European Super state! Your analyst who hoping to add a note to this video Saturday that the site is online and why it was down for well over 12 hours! Alert creation in oracle Apps

07:43
Overview: You can use alerts simply to notify one person/multiple persons about an event or some data change. There are two type of alerts Event based Alerts Periodic Alerts Event based Alerts: These Alerts are fired/triggered based on some change in data in the database. Ex: If you want to notify your manager when you create an item in the inventory you can use Event based alerts. When you create an item in the inventory it will create a new record in mtl_system_items_b, here inserting a record in the table is an event so when ever a new record is inserted it will send the alert. In same alert you can also send the information related to that particular item. Periodic Alerts: These Alerts are triggered hourly, daily, weekly, monthly or yearly based on your input. Ex: If you want to know list of all items created on that day at the end of day you can use periodic alerts repeating periodically by single day. This alert is not based on any changes to database. This alert will notify you everyday regardless of data exists or not that means even if no items are created you will get a blank notification.

: Troubleshooting “/storage/log” directory full warning in vCenter Server Appliance 6.0

02:46
KB Article: https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2143565 This video demonstrates how to troubleshoot “SSO log directory full” warning in vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 you see that the “/storage/log directory” is highly utilized in an embedded vCenter Server Appliance or Platform Controller Server Appliance 6.0. This is a known issue affecting vCenter Server Appliance 6.0. Currently, there is no resolution. To work around this issue, reduce the maximum backup size and the maximum backup index in the log4j.properties file. Note: In external Platform Service Controller (PSC) environments, log in to the Platform Service Controller instead to make the suggested changes. For additional information, see VMware Knowledge Base article - /storage/log directory is full in vCenter Server Appliance 6.0 (2143565) at the following URL: https://kb.vmware.com/kb/2143565

Working with the Trace File Analyzer Collector

28:22
The Trace File Analyzer (TFA) Collector Tool is a utility for collecting first failure diagnostics when creating Service Requests with Oracle Support. Using TFA Collector to make diagnostic collections removes questions about what files to collect and upload. TFA knows about all the well known Oracle and operating system diagnostic locations and collects only files that have been modified proximate to problem time specified from any of those well known locations. Larger files are also pruned proximate to problem time specified to reduce the size of the upload. If the system is a clustered environment TFA collects relevant diagnostics from the remote nodes as well. All of this can be accomplished with one simple command. Key features of TFA Collector include: RAC and single instance non-RAC support Time-based collection of relevant files OS Clusterware ASM DB OSW and CHMOS etc Large file pruning Cluster-wide time-relevant collections Analytics for key files DB alert logs Clusterware alert logs ASM alert logs system messages OSWatcher top and slabinfo data Flexible command-line interface Copyright © 2014 Oracle and/or its affiliates. 7. Compile-time warnings help avoid "WHEN OTHERS THEN NULL".

03:23
One of Tom Kyte's favorite pet peeves, the following exception sections "swallow up" errors. EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN NULL; EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN DBMS_OUTPUT.PUT_LINE (SQLERRM); In fact, any exception handler that does not re-raise the same exception or another, runs the risk of hiding errors from the calling subprogram, your users, and yourself as you debug your code. Generally, you should log the error, then re-raise it. There are certainly some cases in which this advice does not hold (for example: a function that fetches a single row for a primary key. If there is no row for the key, it's not an application error, so just return NULL). In those cases, include a comment so that the person maintaining your code in the distant future knows that you weren't simply ignoring the Wisdom of the Kyte. Example: EXCEPTION WHEN OTHERS THEN /* No company or this ID, let calling subprogram decide what to do */ RETURN NULL; One way to avoid this problem is to turn on compile-time warnings. Then when your program unit is compiled, you will be warned if the compiler has identified an exception handler that does not contain a RAISE statement or a call to RAISE_APPLICATION_ERROR. Running Oracle Forms 11g Applications Using Java Web Start Launcher, No Any Web Browser Required

17:31
How to run oracle form in any browser? How to run Oracle Forms Applications without Web Browser? The Java Plugin has been used by Oracle Forms for many years. Browser technology has since evolved beyond the need or desire to continue supporting plugins of any kind. With modern browser vendors working to restrict and reduce plugin support in their products so it's getting increasingly difficult to run Java applets through browsers, which is a problem for Oracle Forms applications. Developers of applications that rely on the Java browser plugin need to consider alternative options such as migrating from Java Applets (which rely on a browser plugin) to the plugin-free Java Web Start technology. This video tutorial describes the steps to deploy Forms applications using Java(TM) Web Start Launcher. You'll learn how to run Oracle Forms Applications with Java Web Start Launcher from the Desktop or the Java Cache Viewer by creating JNLP File. Even though Java plug-in does not work in web browsers after installing Java, Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release still supports NAPAPI plug-ins. Alternatively we shall download and install Firefox 52 ESR 32-bit release to run Oracle Forms Applications. You'll also learn how to manage and configure Java Security Exception Site List and set the security level within the Java Control Panel to get rid of the following errors or Java exceptions. (You can add the URL of the application to Exception Site List) oracle.forms.engine.Main ExitException: Unsigned application requesting unrestricted access to system. The following resource is signed with a weak signature algorithm MD5withRSA and is treated as unsigned: http:XXXX:7001/forms/java/frmall.jar This application will run with unrestricted access which may put your computer and personal information at risk. Run this application only if you trust the location and publisher above. Applications Blocked by Java Security. Your security settings have blocked an untrusted application from running. jQuery datatables get data from database table

There are many ways to get data into DataTables. If the data is small you can retrieve all the data at once and the processing (i.e paging, searching, ordering) is done on the client-side. On the other hand if the database data is large, server-side processing can be enabled. With server-side processing enabled, all paging, searching, ordering actions that DataTables performs are handed off to the server. In this video we will discuss retrieving all the data at once. The datatables plugin performs all the processing (i.e paging, searching, ordering etc) on the client-side. We want to retrieve data from the following database table tblEmployee. The database data should then be displayed using jQuery datatables plugin

Oracle ZFS Storage Appliances - Demonstration: Configuring a ZFS Storage Appliances (Part 5 of 6)

13:39
See how to use the ZFS management software to configure a ZFS storage appliance. Part 5 of 6 in this tutorial. Mick: We're going to begin our demo now. We'll switch to the VirtualBox Appliance here. I've effectively installed the box, connected to it from the system console and switched it on. It's booted. If you watch carefully, you've probably seen that it is in fact really a Solaris system and it's waiting for me to begin configuration. If we press any key to start - and I'll have to fill in the basic configuration here as you can see. The reason that configuration already exists is because the system uses the dynamic host configuration protocol to go off and get network details which I want to change to be static. So I'm going to change the host in there. The system actually has a very useful command line interface as well as a nice browser based interface. Although most of the rest of the demo will be via the browser I would hopefully spend a minute or two showing you commands that I can use from the command line as well. In fact, you can even do scripting if you're doing lots of repetitive commands each step. Just like any computer system, you can create scripts to have them executed. All the other details here are okay. I'll enter a password and then esc-1 which tells the system I've finished entering the configuration data. There we go. The system's come back to me now and it's telling me that I should talk to the appliance on the network address I'm assigned and then port number 215. I could log in here on the console and I could do things here at the command line but it's a bit nicer to show it through the basic user interface. Certainly the early stages of the configuration are also a little bit easier doing that. So I'll start up a web browser and I'll go into the interface which my system rightfully doesn't trust. I'll proceed anyway. And there we go. I'm connected up to the Storage Appliance. Log in as root, give the password. The system realizes that this is the first time that machine has been used and I need to do a little bit further configuration before I can get started. I click on start and it will take me through a half a dozen steps to get the thing up and running. First of which is to configure networking. Bear in mind that this is initial configuration and if I make a mistake or change my mind or I don't really want to do any configuration at the moment, I can always come back a little bit later and do this. The thing has got two built-in Ethernet interfaces. A normal physical machine we have four. One of which I configured in the early stages of configuration, which you saw earlier. There's nothing to change here really other than I might want to make these things a little bit less anonymous. For example here, I've got my data link which is my physical link and here I've got my interface which is the link with the IP address reside, etc. Imagine I wanted to edit this. If you point to the object can you see there's a trash can symbol so I could remove the information or there's a little pen which I could click on to make changes to edit. The name of the host is hoki and I want to call it hoki datalink because I'm going to use that interface as a published interface for people access the shares on this device and reserve the other one for management purposes. Notice while we're on this form that I can actually use it to create link aggregations. A link aggregation is fairly sophisticated mechanism for failover and load spreading, so I can combine a number of Ethernet interfaces into one apparent physical interface. LACP aggregation then would ask me if I clicked on that to enter some information about the link aggregation. The LACP is link aggregation control protocol and once the aggregation is up and running, the protocol will be used to inform the switch that the link aggregation exists and hopefully the switch will configure itself accordingly. It is worth noting that you need something like a layer 3 switch or certainly a network switch that supports link aggregations, which I don't want to do. All I need to do is change the datalink. But I can also set up a VLAN.

Error Output in Data Flow

19:14
This Video Tutorial illustrates how to do Error Logging in Data Flow with Error Ouput Configuration. Most of the Data Flow components has an special output named Error Output. Error Output when we configure it to redirect error rows, would contains; the record that caused error, the Error Column and Error Code. Error Column in most of the cases would return Data LineageID of the column in data flow. the ErrorCode can be used to fetch Error Description. In this video you will learn how to configure Error output to get the record that caused failure in data flow. you will also learn how to translate errorCode to error description with script component and ComponentMetaData object. you will also learn that error description sometimes is not detailed ENOUGH. so you might use other ways of logging like SQL Server Profiler to catch the detailed error message. the Data Flow Discovery component from the link at the end used for this demo: http://dfld.codeplex.com/

Let me know what video you'd like for me to create for this Hibernate tutorial. --- Hibernate Tutorial Transcript In this video, we're going to test our JDBC connection. In the previous video, we did a lot of work with downloading JAR files. What I want to do hear is just do a very simple test to make sure that our JDBC connection works just fine. What we're going to do is create a very simple JDBC program, just to test everything out, just to make sure everything works out okay. What I would like to do, is move into this hibernate tutorial under the source. I'll create a new package. Right click, I'll say New Package. The actual name of the package, I'll call it com.luv2code.jdbc. Once you're happy with that package name, go ahead and click on finish. Now what I would like to do is actually create a new class. Again, right click on that package name. I'll say New Class. The actual name that I'll use for this class, I'll call it Testjdbc. Just very simple, and to the point. I'll also check the low item here for public static void, just so I can have a main method for this program. Then again, hit on Finish. All right, great. We have a very basic program here and let's go ahead and dig in. Let's start writing some code. I have a very simple try catch block. I have catch exception EXC. I'll do the EXC.print stack trace in case something goes wrong. Hopefully not. What I'll do is I'll just set up some variables here for my database connection information. First off, I'll set up my JDBC URL. I'll call it JDBC:mysequel:localhost3306/ I give the name of my database scheme, which is hbstudenttracker. Here I'll say use SSL=false. Just so that I don't get that pesky SSL warning that my sequel introduced recently, which is really annoying. Anyway, use SSL will make that go away. All right, so that's how JDBC URL, our user ID that we created, and we did all this stuff in previous slides here. Our user is HBStudent. We have this very secure system where our password is the same as our username. Only for training purposes, right? Okay, good. All right, so our URL, user ID, and password, great. We can use this information to actually give us a connection to a database. All right. Here, I'm just mentioning again that use SSL as equals false as to get rid of that pesky my sequel SSL warnings. All right, great. Let's go ahead and write some code here. I'm going to make use of my driver manager to get a connection. I'll also do some system out print lines here to tell myself what's going on here. All right, so I'll say system out print line, connecting to database. I'll just drop in that JDBC URL. Then I'll attempt to get a connection. Here I'll say connectionmycon=, and then I say driver manager.getconnection. I pass in my JDBC URL, my user ID, and my password. If that works out fine, then we have a successful connection. I can print a statement here saying connection successful. Yah-hoo. I like to have fun with this stuff. All right, so that's the piece there. Now, we need to fix some of our imports here. I can just click on this red X. We need to do that import on java.sql, so choose the second option here. Import Connection, and java.sql. Select that item. Yeah, that takes care of the item then. We should be good to go here. All right, so just some very basic code here to test out our database connection. Let's go ahead and run this application. I just do a right click, Run As, Java Application. Then it's going to fire up, and say connection successful. Let me expand this window here, so you can see everything. Connecting to database, connection successful. This is great. This is just a confirmation that we have the correct URL, user ID, and password. Also, more importantly, is that JDBC driver that we have on our lib directory, is associated with our class path. Know that we can get a valid connection. [Snip] for complete transcript, select More ... Transcript This is the end of the Hibernate tutorial transcript.
