S07E02 - RockShox Lyrik Inner Cartridges Service

07:07
First part: S07E01 - RockShox Lyrik Lower Legs Service https://youtu.be/s-zFWGdByeE Check out our website: http://bikebook.si Hello and welcome everyone to the second part of our two-part RS Lyrik fork service series. If you missed the first part on how to service lower legs I highly recommend watching it before this video. Inner cartridge service can only be done with lower legs off the fork, Removal of the lower legs can be seen in the first video. Start with unscrewing the rebound air valve cap. Make sure that you let all the air out. Use pliers to remove the snap ring on the bottom side of the slider and then carefully remove the rebound cartridge. It requires quite a bit of force. Change the rubber seals, one by one. Be careful not to damage the plastic. Inspect and clean all the parts, also the inner side of the slider. We use Power Brake cleaner from Motorex that is basicaly isopropyl alcohol. When all cleaned and replaced, push the cartridge back into the slider and secure it with snap ring. Replace the seal on the air valve cap. All rubber seals should be lubed before fitting them. Check the manual on how much and which type of suspension fluid should you use. Screw the air valve cap back on and tighten it snug. You are done with the rebound side. You basically follow the same procedure for the compression side. Use pliers to hold the knob in place while unscrewing it with allen key. There are two very small screws on each side holding the blue compression knob in place. Now unscrew and remove the complete cartridge from the slider. Pour out the old suspension fluid. Change the rubber seal and plastic slider on the cartridge. Use pliers to remove the snap ring on the bottom side of the slider and then carefully remove the rest of the compression cartridge. Change the rubber seal and plastic slider then mount it back. Don’t forget to secure it with snap ring. Check the manual on how much and which type of suspension fluid should you use - in our case 195 ml of RS 5WT suspension fluid. Carefully place the compression cartridge back into the slider and tighten it snug. Put back the knobs and you are done. This is the end of the two-part RS Lyrik service series. Subscribe and stay tuned for more videos to come.

How To Service Rock Shox MTB Fork | Mountain Bike Maintenance

08:46
Fork feeling dry and ropey? Well if you've ridden your fork for 50 hours without giving it any attention then chances are it needs a lower leg service. So follow Doddy's tips to get your fork running buttery smooth again with just some fork oil and basic tools! Subscribe to GMBN: http://gmbn.eu/subscribe Get exclusive GMBN gear in the GMBN store! http://gmbn.eu/s2 Now, we're using a RockShox Pike here. It's a pretty common fork. A lot of people run this. But the principle is the same for all forks. It's only the oil variety and the volume that changes. RockShox recommend you do this service approximately every 50 hours of riding, and that's pretty much the same for most manufacturers. Okay, so step one is to just make sure you've released all of the air from the fork. I'm pretty sure I got most of it out when I put the shock pump to it, but you can just deflate the valve manually using the end of an Allen key. So that's all good. Next step is to remove the rebound adjuster knob from the base of the fork. Take your two and a half mil Allen key and then just undo the little pinch bolt on the rebound adjuster. So the next part of the process is to remove the fork lowers, we'll need a 5 millimetre Allen key, and you wanna loosen the bolts on the bottom of the fork. You don't wanna remove them completely because you may need to shock them in order to release them. So you've got the upper legs of the fork that slide into the lower legs. On the inside, you've got rods that are attached to the upper legs, and these rods sit into the base of the fork. Obviously during compression and use, they do manage to stick to the bottom, so I'm just gonna free them by tapping the end of the Allen key with a mallet with the two lower bolts removed, it's time to slide the lower legs off the fork. Okay, so your next step is to remove the foam rings. These sit underneath the wiper seals. So get the pick and very carefully just prise these out without damaging the seals or anything else. Isopropyl alcohol is the best thing you can use for cleaning your foam rings. Just give them a good soaking with the stuff and then just pat them dry, and you'll find that most of the oil comes out and they start looking a bit more like the new ones we just showed you. So now it's time to replace the foam rings into the fork. As I mentioned, I have not soaked these in oil. I'm actually gonna apply the oil once it's in the fork using a syringe. So after you've oiled the foam rings, what you wanna do is just wipe some decent quality suspension grease just around the inside of your wiper seals. That just helps complete the lower leg service before you put the fork back together. So now it's a case of sliding your lower legs back onto the uppers. One thing to take particular care of is make sure you don't fold the seals or damage them as they just get onto the edge of the tubing here. So just take a bit of care in doing this and make sure they line up correctly. You wanna slide these on until they contact on the inner dampening rods and air rods and pull them back about a centimetre. This gives you enough space to inject some lower leg lube. So this lube is vital to how well the fork performs and how long it lasts until your next service. So not only does it stop the seals from drying out, but it's really, really important for initial sensitivity and small bump performance. On this particular fork, on the RockShox Pike, it actually tells you how much oil you need to put inside. Using a syringe is the best way to apply the oil. Not only can you get an accurate reading on how much you're putting into the fork, but it's very easy just to squirt the correct amount in and you're not wasting any. It's quite expensive stuff. So with your lower legs lubricated now, you wanna replace the bolts at the bottom of the fork. Slide the lower back on until those rods connect fully. That means your threads are lined up at the bottom here. And replace the bolts. Horquilla Rock Shox 30: mantenimiento básico y limpieza y engrase del piston interior

09:21
Rock Shox Boxxer World Cup: Air cartridge maintenance

17:51
In this video we will show how to maintain your Rock Shox Boxxer World Cup air cartridge and how to grease internals to achieve a soft and nice fork travel. Today we are going to show how to maintain your Rock Shox Boxxer World Cup. We are going to dissasemble lower leg, upper air tube, lube it all and change lower leg oil. By this way we will obtain a soft and sensitive fork behaviour. To do that we will use a 2mm hex. key, a 1.5mm, a 4mm, a 5mm and a 24mm spanner or an adjustable spanner, a nylon hammer, a syringe to measure the suspension oil, suspension oil itself, oil seal grease and a jar. First thing is to loosen lower legs from upper tubes. It’s nice to use a socket to avoid hitting the lower end directly. We will use a tray just in case oil leaks. Once there is no oil inside, we can clean oil seals. Although this Boxxer fork is almost new it is recommended to clean and grease oil seals because they are almost dry from Factory and suspension stroke is not as soft and nice as it should be. To open the air tube remove the air cap, release air pressure and remove the bottom rebound regulator. If you can’t loosen it because all the tube is turning around use temporally the fork lower crown and tighten the tube at this distance. Tighten the clamp bolt a little bit and undo the bottom bolt. It’s important to lower the front end of the 24mm socket with a lathe or similar so to keep it totally flat. Standard sockets have a step and it’s posible to dent the tube cap if it the socket slips while loosening. Now you can remove the lower crown. Now remove the piston from underside. Clean it thoroughly, inspect all o-rings are in good condition and apply a little bit of grease to them and to the piston seal. After that, apply suspension oil to the piston seal again. Install the piston carefully into the tube, check everything is okay and install the snap ring. Once the snap ring is installed you will notice it has a position. Place it correctly so it can’t turn and jump out. Spill 5ml of suspension oil into the air camber and now it’s ready to be closed. Tighten the tube cap and install the compression regulator. Now we are going to grease the seals and spill oil into the lower tubes. Grease the seals thoroughly. It’s a good advice to apply oil between the dust seal and the oil seal. Now, being careful not to pinch the seals, install the tube. Before closing it we are going to spill oil into the lower tubes. Rock Shox recommends 15ml of SAE 15W. Once done, compress the lower tube so to approach the thread to install both bolts. Tighten them and install rebound regulators. Install the red one, the small black plastic washer and the small regulator. Check both regulators turn correctly. Now you know how to service your Rock Shox Boxxer World Cup fork and make it work really smoothly. Hope it helps and see you on next video! Well, hope it has been useful, And remember that all of your component and bicycle manipulation is under your responsability. We are not responsible of it, so take care :D Translation & voice dubbing Goose Alvaro (Gassattack.com). Cheers! How to change the travel on your RockShox Solo Air fork

11:37
Click here to subscribe: https://www.youtube.com/user/MBRmagazine?sub_confirmation=1 In recent years forks with on-the-fly travel adjustment have fallen out of fashion, and rightly so. Most riders don’t want to change the length of their fork, and the geometry of their bike, mid-ride. However, from time to time travel adjustment is useful. You may wish to alter the geometry or attitude of your bike or you may have bought a new frame with different suspension needs and you may want to transfer your current fork over to it. If you have a RockShox Solo Air fork then changing the travel is pretty easy and a relatively cheap option. For around £70 (the price of a new Solo Air Spring Assembly), and an hour or so of your time, and you can have any fork travel you need. It’s also an easy mod — the only special tools needed are a pair of circlip pliers. In this guide we’ve converted a 29-inch 160mm Pike to 130mm, but if your fork is in good condition and you don’t mind swapping a few more parts over you can buy an air shaft on its own for half the price of the air assembly.

Basic MTB Fork Maintenance You Should Be Doing | Mountain Bike Maintenance

04:23
Mountain bike suspension is something we all take for granted! It makes our ride easier, more comfortable and allows us to ride the kind of trails that would be impossible without it! We're all guilty of maybe not looking after our suspension as much as we should, especially our forks! Here are some basic tips that will allow you to make sure your fork is working well for longer, and the warning signs that mean it needs attention! Subscribe to GMBN: http://gmbn.eu/subscribe Get exclusive GMBN gear in the GMBN store! http://gmbn.eu/td Doddy took a trip to Mojo for a chat about forks with local suspension guru Chris Porter. Our forks often tell us what condition they're in due to several telltale signs such as scratches or discolouration of the stanchion tubes, gunk around the seals, a rattling noise or jut a horrible feeling! Don't ignore these signs! In order to keep your suspension in tip top condition it requires regular, simple servicing. Anything from a refresher of suspension oil to a new dust and wiper seal can save your fork from some costly repairs! Suspension fork settings - What they mean

This is an incomplete overview of air suspension forks, and what the settings mean on the vast majority of them. This video does not provide detailed instructions on how to set up your fork, but it does give you an idea of what to Google when you're digging in. It's usually printed on the fork though. When in doubt, Google it! If you're looking for a transcript of this video, it was too long to paste here. Turn on closed captions and everything is there!
