The Color of Magic (Discworld #1) by Terry Pratchett Audiobook full

06:51:46
Terry Pratchett's profoundly irreverent, bestselling novels have garnered him a revered position in the halls of parody next to the likes of Mark Twain, Kurt Vonnegut, Douglas Adams, and Carl Hiaasen. The Color of Magic is Terry Pratchett's maiden voyage through the now-legendary land of Discworld. This is where it all begins -- with the tourist Twoflower and his wizard guide, Rincewind. On a world supported on the back of a giant turtle (sex unknown), a gleeful, explosive, wickedly eccentric expedition sets out. There's an avaricious but inept wizard, a naive tourist whose luggage moves on hundreds of dear little legs, dragons who only exist if you believe in them, and of course THE EDGE of the planet...

Terry Pratchett's Discworld | Where To Start?

07:24
Terry Pratchett's Discworld is a fictional universe in which he has set more than 40 comic fantasy books. It includes some of my all time favourite works of fiction. Further Note: The Discworld audiobooks are voiced by the EPIC Tony Robinson who does a wonderful job of bringing these wacky comedic characters to life. If you're in the mood for an audiobook I cannot recommend these more highly! 'The Colour of Magic' by Terry Pratchett - Fantasy Book Review

18:28
‘The Colour of Magic’ – Book Review - Friday Fantasy Show – Episode 174. The Bottled Imp goes on a little holiday in search of ‘The Colour of Magic’ written by Sir Terry Pratchett. First published in 1983. I was about 15 or 16 when I first read ‘The Colour of Magic’. I remember seeing the colourful, cartoon cover on the shelves of Forbidden Planet in London and thinking, “That looks like the book for me!” And I was right. By then a number of books in the Discworld series were published so I soon devoured the rest of them. I must have read the first 10 or so back-to-back. But then I’m not sure what happened. I stopped reading them and lost touch with the entire goings on in the Pratchett universe. Fast forward to The Bottled Imp years, and I decided as part of our new Monday show, The Bottled Imp Show, to read all 41 Discworld novels (some are short stories - The Great Fantasy Challenge), in publication order. But not only that, to read one novel a week! ‘The Colour of Magic’ is the first in the Discworld series and the one that planted a few seeds of how the universe was shaped. The premise of all the Discworld novels is as follows. A planet-sized flat disc carried through space on the backs of four huge elephants – Berilia, Tubul, Great T'Phon and Jerakeen – who themselves stand on the shell of Great A'Tuin, a gigantic sea turtle. The surface of the disc contains oceans and continents, and with them, civilisations, cities, forests and mountains. If you'd like to join Ken in The Great Fantasy Challenge, here's the full list of the Discworld novels written by Terry Pratchett: 1) The Colour of Magic (1983) (Rincewind) 2) The Light Fantastic (1986) (Rincewind) 3) Equal Rites (1987) (Witches) 4) Mort (1987) (Death) 5) Sourcery (1988) (Rincewind) 6) Wyrd Sisters (1988) (Witches) 7) Pyramids (1989) (One-off) 8) Guards! Guards! (1989) (City Watch) 9) Faust Eric (1990) (Rincewind) 10) Moving Pictures (1990) (One-off) 11) Reaper Man (1991) (Death) 12) Witches Abroad (1991) (Witches) 13) Small Gods (1992) (One-off) 14) Lords and Ladies (1992) (Witches) 15) Troll Bridge (1992) (Short story) 16) Men at Arms (1993) (City Watch) 17) Theatre of Cruelty (1993) (Short story) 18) Soul Music (1994) (Death) 19) Interesting Times (1994) (Rincewind) 20) Maskerade (1995) (Witches) 21) Feet of Clay (1996) (City Watch) 22) Hogfather (1996) (Death) 23) Jingo (1997) (City Watch) 24) The Last Continent (1998) (Rincewind) 25) Carpe Jugulum (1998) (Witches) 26) The Sea and Little Fishes (1998) (Short story) 27) The Fifth Elephant (1999) (City Watch) 28) The Truth (2000) (One-off) 29) Thief of Time (2001) (Death) 30) The Last Hero (2001) (Rincewind, although this is debatable) 31) The Amazing Maurice And His Educated Rodents (2001) 32) Night Watch (2002) (City Watch) 33) Death and What Comes Next (2002) (Short story) 34) The Wee Free Men (2003) (Tiffany Aching) 35) Monstrous Regiment (2003) (One-off) 36) A Hat Full of Sky (2004) (Tiffany Aching) 37) Going Postal (2004) (Post Office) 38) Once More* With Footnotes (2004) (Compilation: short works) 39) Thud! Die Farben der Magie von Terry Pratchett (Fantasy) Hörbuch

08:37:44

'Mort' by Terry Pratchett - Fantasy Book Review

14:47
‘Mort’ – Book Review - Friday Fantasy Show – Episode 185. The Bottled Imp continues our exploration of the Discworld universe with the ‘Equal Rites’ written by Sir Terry Pratchett. First published in 1987. I was about 15 or 16 when I first read ‘The Colour of Magic’, book 1 of the Discworld series. ‘Mort’ is the fourth novel in the series and the first one to feature the character of DEATH as a main character. The first book, ‘The Colour of Magic’, has a direct sequel, ‘The Light Fantastic’. As far as I know (not read them all yet!) all the other novels are stand alone. The set up of ‘Mort’ as described from Wikipedia: As a teenager, Mort has a personality and temperament that makes him unsuited to the family farming business. Mort's father Lezek takes him to a local hiring fair in the hope that Mort will land an apprenticeship; not only would this provide a job for his son, but it would also make his son's propensity for thinking into someone else's problem.
