What has pi to do with the prime numbers, how can you calculate pi from the licence plate numbers you encounter on your way to work, and what does all this have to do with Riemann's zeta function and the most important unsolved problem in math? Well, Euler knew most of the answers, long before Riemann was born.
I got this week's pi t-shirt from here: https://shirt.woot.com/offers/beautiful-pi
As usual thank you very much to Marty and Danil for their feedback on an earlier version of this video and Michael (Franklin) for his help with recording this video..
Here are a few interesting references to check out if you can handle more maths: J.E. Nymann, On the probability that k positive integers are relatively prime, Journal of number theory 4, 469--473 (1972) http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/pii/0022314X72900388 (contains a link to a pdf file of the article).

Now that we understand division, we can talk about divisibility. A number is divisible by another if their quotient is a whole number. The smaller number is a factor of the larger one, but are there numbers with no factors at all? There's some pretty surprising stuff in this one!

Learn to show a given number as a product of its prime factors.
Teacher Synopsis
Reactivate prior knowledge of factors and prime numbers.
Every number greater than 1 is either prime or composite
"Composite" means 'made up of various parts'.
Composite numbers are 'made up' of prime factors
Demo: numbers 2-15 (30 seconds)
Factor tree (18). Grade 7+ expectation of exponential notation is shown as a bonus item, a way to make it REALLY tidy. No reason why you can't do it before grade 7, it's not hard if you think about it like this.
Factor tree (48) includes exponential notation of repeated factors.

In this lesson, the student will learn how to find the prime factors of a number and how to write the prime factorization down. The easiest way to do this is to write down the factors in a "factor tree". The prime factors are the numbers at the "bottom" of the factor tree.
Finding factors of a number (number factors) isn't hard. In fact, math factoring is very easy once this simple technique of using a factor tree is understood.

Class 10th maths, Real Numbers, Express 140 as product of its prime factors Solution to class x cbse ncert state boards
Class 10th Mathematics REAL NUMBERS In class 8th we studied rational numbers and in 9th class we studied real numbers. We also encountered irrational numbers in 9th. In this class we continue our discussion and application of real numbers. Here we deal with two important properties of real numbers namely Euclid’s division algorithm and Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic.
1: Euclid’s Division Lemma: Given positive integers a and b, there exists unique integers q and r satisfying a = bq + r, 0 is less than or equal to r is less than b.
2: Fundamental Theorem of Arithmetic. Every composite number can be expressed (factorized) as a product of primes and this factorization is unique, apart from the order in which prime factors occur.
In this series of video lessons we will:
1. Use Euclid’s division algorithm to find HCF and LCM of numbers.
2. Solve word problems using Euclid’s division algorithm.
3. Express numbers as product of prime factors.
4. Find LCM and HCF using prime factorization method.

You can use short division repeatedly to quickly find all the prime factors of a LARGE number.
2 speed keys to fast prime factorization:
• knowing your tables
• being able to choose suitable prime divisors (rules of divisibility)
This demo takes you through my thinking through the prime factorization of 76,230.
How to choose prime divisors (rules of divisibility) 2, 3, 5 and 7 are shown and described.
Answer shown by simple factor listing (axbxb etc),
and using exponential notation.
