This is one trip I’ve been waiting to do for ages...and it finally came around. This trip doesn’t need much introduction. I was one of the few very fortunate passengers to take the first EVER direct public train between London and Amsterdam. Eurostar now run this train as of 4 April via Brussels and Rotterdam straight to the Dutch capital. It’s an incredible service. My journey was made more special by the fact I was in Eurostar’s top class of service, Business Premier (explanation of classes here:https://www.eurostar.com/uk-en/travel-info/travel-planning/travel-classes 🙂) As you know this is a particular highlight of this year for me so I really hope you also enjoy the video. I was very privileged to have made it. If you want to find out more about my future plans and join in conversations I have about travel, follow me on Twitter: @pauls_trips. The Amtrak EMPIRE BUILDER - three days crossing Big Sky Country!

This week's video is a real treat, and one I know lots of you have been waiting a very long time for. I have lots of subscribers who came to my channel through other train trip videos I've done - and you've been patient. Hopefully, this 30 minute bumper trip report (the longest I've ever done) will quench your appetite for epic train journeys. This is a quintessentially American experience and is the ONLY way you should consider going across Big Sky Country - if you have three days to spare, that is. The Amtrak Empire Builder. Where to start? Well, here's the official route guide: https://www.amtrak.com/ccurl/229/381/Amtrak-Empire-Builder-Train-Route-Guide,0.pdf And here's a great description of the route from Wikipedia: The train passes through Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, North Dakota, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Illinois. It makes service stops in Spokane, Washington, Havre, Montana, Minot, North Dakota, and Saint Paul, Minnesota. Its other major stops include Vancouver, Washington, Whitefish, Montana, Fargo, North Dakota, and Milwaukee, Wisconsin. It uses BNSF Railway's northern route from Seattle to Minneapolis, Minnesota Commercial from Minneapolis to St. Paul, Canadian Pacific from St. Paul to Glenview, and Metra from Glenview to Chicago. From Seattle, the northern segment uses the Cascade Tunnel and Stevens Pass as it traverses the Cascade Range to reach Spokane, while the southern segment departs Portland and runs along the north side of the Columbia River Gorge. The eastbound cars merge into one train at Spokane. The train continues into the mountains in eastern Washington and northern Idaho. Amtrak organizes the schedule so the train will pass through the Rocky Mountains (and Glacier National Park) during daylight, but this is more likely on the eastbound train during summer. Passengers can see sweeping views as the train skirts the southern edge of the park, crossing the Continental Divide at Marias Pass. After three short stops near Glacier National Park— Whitefish, Montana, West Glacier, Essex (a flag stop), and either East Glacier in the summer or Browning in the winter, the train enters the Northern Plains of eastern Montana and North Dakota. The land changes from prairie to forest as it travels through Minnesota. From Saint Paul Union Depot, the train crosses the Mississippi River at Hastings, Minnesotaand passes through southeastern Minnesota cities on or near Lake Pepin before crossing the Mississippi again at La Crosse, Wisconsin. It passes through rural southern Wisconsin, turns south at Milwaukee, and ends at Chicago Union Station. I really hope the video speaks for itself. Enjoy the report. Thank you so much Further information: This video reviews the train journey from Bergen to Oslo, Norway in October 2017. Captions will give you further information and tips about this very scenic journey. This train is run by Norway national state railways: NSB (Norges Statsbaner AS). I read so much about it and unfortunately a previous trip to Oslo didn't give me the chance to experience this epic train journey on the Bergen Line (Bergensbanen). Known for its wet weather, Bergen offered a stunning sunny and crisp weather for my stay there and (apart for some morning mist), I enjoy the same sunny weather during my journey to Oslo. The views were spectacular and the autumn colours added a special dimension to the landscape offered. The time flew past and the changing landscape from fjords, barren high altitude plateau, snow capped mountains and pine forests and lakes kept my attention high throughout the journey. I can't recommend enough this experience. Is it one of Europe's or the World's best train journey? You decide - maybe from this video or experiencing for yourself. I bought the tickets online directly from NSB: https://www.nsb.no/en/frontpage My train journey was to take more than the 6hr 45 min scheduled. The train was delayed by more than an hour - a quick search online confirmed that I was entitled to a refund for such a delay: https://www.nsb.no/en/our-tickets/booking-conditions/how-to-claim-a-refund-and-compensation The train also stops at Myrdal station where you can take the branch line to Flåm. This service is privately run and tickets can be bought on the link below: https://booking.visitflam.com/en/to-do/a1488268/the-fl%c3%a5m-railway/showdetails Video includes footage of Bergen train station, carriages (in first class "Komfort", 2nd class and "Kafe" the cafeteria section). Frecciarossa 1000 Executive Class | Europe's Best Train? | Trip Report

11:42
Hi, this is my report about my trip with the Tranitalia Frecciarossa 1000 from Rome Termini to Milano Centrale in Executive Class. The ETR1000 is a high-speed train in Italy and the Executive Class is comparable to a First or Business Class product in a plane - very luxurious seats, perfect service, lounge access and many other things, that make traveling comfortable. To be honest, I haven't seen that level of perfection in any other European high-speed train before, so yes, this is my new favourite. This is my very first train travel report. So if you have any suggestions for future videos, let me know in the comments! As always I want to point out that I'm no professional video editor whatsoever. Nevertheless I give my best to create entertaining and informative videos. If you want to support this work, just subscribe to my channel. Thank you! As always, I have written a short article about my trip on my blog: http://the-jetstreamer.com/frecciarossa-1000-europes-best-train-travel-report/ You also find many other reports and my thoughts on different things there: http://travelmentary.tv/frecciarossa-1000-europes-best-train-travel-report/ ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Music: created it myself :-)

This is my third Virgin West Coast Trip Report and probably the most comprehensive. I really enjoyed this brief journey, of just over two hours. We travel from London Euston station and head for Liverpool Lime Street. City centre to city centre, it’s 2h12 minutes of pleasant scenery and tasty food, with breakfast served to my seat. Virgin provide good value for money on this route. My ticket cost around £30 and included lounge access, free WiFi, onboard entertainment, and a cooked breakfast and beverages. Not bad. Of course, you have to book ahead to get the best deals! Next UK train trip will be uploaded in 4 weeks’ time - it’ll be a belter, the GWR Pullman. Until then, I’ve got three air trips to publish. Zurich to Hamburg by OBB Nightjet deluxe sleeper car

Fancy being a Patron? https://www.patreon.com/paulstripreports Follow me on Snapchat: pauls_trips ¦ https://snapchat.com/add/pauls_trips Follow me on Twitter: @pauls_trips ¦ https://twitter.com/pauls_trips Follow me on Instagram: paulstripreports ¦ https://www.instagram.com/paulstripreports/ Thanks for finding my video and pressing play! Some of you have told me you’d like to see more train trips. So here’s a great train trip! This OBB Nightjet train runs daily from Zurich to Hamburg-Altona, leaving at 20:00, and arriving shortly after 09:00 the following morning. It’s one of only two OBB trains which use the double decker “schlafwagen” carriages (sleeper cars). I’ve travelled on a few sleeper trains before and they’re all pretty similar in terms of layout. This is different, with the deluxe sleeper I occupy taking up the roof space on the top deck of this train. It also features a small seating area, and a fully functioning shower, as well as ensuite toilet. Each carriage has a dedicated attendant who will check your ticket, greet you, wake you, and serve you breakfast. Overall, this is a niche and interesting way to travel. While sleeping-car travel is on the decline in Europe, thanks to shoestring budgets and the arrival of budget airlines and safer/higher quality hostels, this train holds its own. If you do this trip, here’s some expectation management from me: - There’s no restaurant on board (there are only a couple of hot microwave meals available) – eat beforehand in Zurich. There are plenty of places to suit all budgets both in the station, and within a couple of minutes walk. - This is not “luxury first class” – it’s pragmatic and the premium charged is for the space. Remember, it’s run on a tight budget, so you’ll occasionally notice a bit of wear and tear. - Beds will cause a problem if you’re over six feet tall (I’m 5’9” so no issue for me…) - The top deck is where the deluxe cabins are, like mine. This is great for viewing but you’ll also feel the swaying of the train more. That might bother you, but it didn’t bother me. And some big positives to encourage you: - Sleeper trains remain a very efficient way to travel. And they’re fun, too, I promise. - Tickets are very easy to buy at https://tickets.oebb.at/en/ticket (that’s the English language page). - All staff speak good English; no German or French phrasebook necessary. - The beds are very comfortable with a decent mattress and duvet included. - You get to see the countryside. - Deluxe cabins have fabulous double windows and roof-lights. It feels, and is, spacious – for a train. - It’s different, isn’t it? Long live the sleeper train. TRIP REPORT - Amtrak and Air Choice One, St. Louis to New York

44:24
I code-named this one "Trains, Planes, and Automobiles: The Real Life Trip Report". It's a play on the 1987 movie "Planes Trains and Automobiles", and it's fitting since I had similar luck. Let me back up a bit... Back during the spring, I came up with a silly idea. I teamed up with a good friend of mine to travel halfway across the country on Amtrak using a sleeper train. It's something I've always wanted to do, and I figured it would make a really fun video. All was going well until a few days out when my friend had to back out at the last minute due to a family emergency. I decided to continue with the trip anyway, but the issues were far from over. I ended up on my own having to solve problem after problem on the fly, and my simple little overnight train trip turned into a mess of driving, flying, public transit, and train travel. Highlights include landing at O'Hare in a single engine propeller plane, coming within minutes of missing my train in Chicago, exploring an Amtrak sleeper train, and much, much more. In this video I take one of Europe’s forgotten trains - the Enterprise. This is the service connecting the two Irish capitals, Dublin in the Republic with Belfast in Northern Ireland. The journey takes around 2 hours and 15 minutes on the fastest weekday services. This is an international train, as Northern Ireland is part of the UK. The open and invisible border between the two means our journey is seamless and easy, with no passport or customs checks needed. First Plus - now seemingly also branded Enterprise Plus - is very comfortable indeed and is well patronised. In fact, on this trip there were a number of senior MLAs (members of Northern Ireland’s devolved Parliament) on board, though they aren’t pictured! One of the reasons this train feels roomy and comfortable is the fact that Irish trains run on a broader gauge - rails are five feet apart as opposed to European gauge used in Britain of four feet eight and a half inches. Autumn and winter aren’t the best for filming - lots of reflections and it being dark outside made for a fair amount of unusable footage....argh. For those of you who like to keep track of this sort of thing, yep - I took this journey immediately after my Newquay to Dublin flight with Aer Lingus! Enjoy the report. _____________________________________ Do you have any ideas for future trip reports? Something you've never seen on YouTube before? Why not suggest it to me in the comments? TRIP REPORT | Scotrail Hitachi Class 385 | FIRST CLASS | Glasgow to Edinburgh *HD*

Welcome to my next Trip Report, conducted during my time in Scotland after my last Trip Report on the Caledonian Sleeper. This report looks into the brand new Hitachi Class 385 EMU's that have recently entered service with Scotrail on the Glasgow to Edinburgh route. This route has also been recently electrified as part of a massive upgrade to Scotland's railways. I decided that since I would be required to transit between the two cities, why not do it on the brand new service. Join me as I try out the all new Hitachi AT200 trains between Glasgow and Edinburgh! So don't be worried if you can't get a First Class fare. Do note this is correct as of October 2018 and this may change in 2019. Traveling Iran by train | DW Documentary

42:25
Iran is opening its doors to foreigners and a train ride from the Persian Gulf to the Caspian Sea is a great way to get to know the country and its people. The travel restrictions that are now being lifted were in place for decades. Many Iranians are hoping they will now be able to lead a freer life – and we meet many of these hospitable and welcoming people on our journey through the Middle Eastern nation. The country’s most important rail link, the Trans-Iranian Railway, runs for approximately 1400 kilometers from the Persian Gulf via Teheran to the Caspian Sea. The journey starts in Khorramshahr on the Shatt al-Arab, the river border between Iraq and Iran. Traveling past oil fields, the train reaches Shushtar. One of the top sights here is the historic hydraulic system, now a UNESCO World Heritage Site. After that, the train heads up into the Zagros Mountains. The journey is interrupted by a break for prayer. Breath-taking landscapes move past the train window until we reach the highest point not only of our journey but of the entire rail network: 2,200 meters above sea level between Dorud and Arak. During a brief stop in Qom, travelers can refuel with sohan, a pastry made of wheat germ, flour and sugar. The next section of the track is high-speed and we continue on to Teheran at 160 km/h. The metropolitan area is home to more than 15 million people. The last leg takes us to the north of the country. In the Alborz Mountains, we find out what role the Trans-Iranian Railway played during Stalin’s major offensive against the German army in World War II. Our oriental rail adventure ends in Bandar-e Torkaman on the Caspian Sea. _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. By train across Sri Lanka | DW Documentary

42:26
Asia’s most beautiful railway line? The “Main Line” cuts through tea plantations and jungle, then passes Buddhist temples and relicts of the British Empire. In the 19th century the British built a railway in what was then their colony of Ceylon. Their idea was to transport goods such as tea from the highlands to the port of Colombo. Today it’s mainly only locals and tourists who use the so-called "Main Line." The route is considered one of the most picturesque in the whole of Asia. Our trip takes us from the capital, Colombo, to Ella in the highlands. Our first stop is one of the country’s largest elephant orphanages. And then on to Kandy, the former capital of the Singhalese kingdom. The city is home to the famous Temple of the Tooth, which is said to house the Buddha’s top left canine. The train then winds its way further up into the highlands. We watch tea pickers at work and go to a tea factory to discover where the aroma comes from. Nuwara Eliya is Sri Lanka’s highest town at an altitude of almost 1900 meters, where a racecourse still brings the colonial era back to life. The stations have also retained their own colonial charm: in 1901, a signaling system was set up to make the long journey safer. And those suffering from the altitude can catch their breath at the final stop, the spa in Ella. _______ Exciting, powerful and informative – DW Documentary is always close to current affairs and international events. Trip report. Lisbon to Faro Algarve. First Class. CP Comboios de Portugal. First Class experience. Portugal Lisbon. Any good? I had a flight from Faro and had to travel from Lisbon. I bought cheap ticket online. CP had first class promotion cheap price. First Class had and air con, large seats and almost no passengers. Train was 1 hour late, so I advice to fly to Faro, rather than taking a train. Music: Night Owl by Broke For Free is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution License. On today's trip report, I'm taking in the second half of the "Festrail" network, continuing on from the last video in which I reviewed the Welsh Highland Railway. Today, I'm beginning at Blaenau Ffestiniog and running back down to Porthmadog on the beautiful Ffestiniog Railway! In this video, I'm going to showcase what you can see from the window on the railway, showing you long tunnels, a spiral at Dduallt and even a sheep or two on the line! My next video on the channel will be up next Friday, and will be another trip report, this time on the much smaller Llanberis Lake Railway, at the foot of Snowdon, Wales' highest mountain. The Rise of Acid Attacks in the UK: VICE Reports

21:59
Since 2010 there have been 1,800 reported acid attacks in the London, with a steep 70% rise between 2015 to 2016. As the number of victims grows, data suggests Britain has the worst record in the developed world for assaults with household acids like bleach and drain cleaner. Only a quarter of recorded attacks have lead to charges being brought, for fear of a repeated attack or a lack of trail for police to pinpoint attackers. From gang disputes to moped thieves, why has acid become the go-to weapon for young criminals in the UK? VICE host Zing Tsjeng speaks to victims, police and perpetrators to investigate why acid has become the go-to weapon for young criminals in London. Thanks for finding my video and pressing play! Welcome to 2018! This is my first video posed using my new camera, a Panasonic Linux DMC-LX15. Previously, night flights were almost not worth filming as my iPhone wasn’t able to deliver acceptable image quality. So this is a mainly experimental trip report; I’m testing out the capabilities of the camera here, and just seeing what it can do. I’ve no idea why the Business Class Upgrade was given to me. The flight wasn’t full and I don’t have any sort of status with CSA. You’ll notice there’s only one row of Business: me and one other passenger. However the curtain divider only goes forward as far as Row 2, so strangely there was a row of economy class in the “mini cabin” with us. Also really surprising that our flight, at 2105, was the last of the evening. Birmingham is a reasonably busy airport and I would have expected flights to run a lot later than that! Overall, a decent flight with a meal. It’s always good to have a gin and tonic in the air! MB's Trip Reports: Welsh Highland Railway

08:19
In this next video, I take to the narrow-gauge lines of Wales, and the first of these routes takes me deep into Snowdonia, across the highlands of Wales - this is the Welsh Highland Railway! Running from Caernarfon to Porthmadog, a distance of over 25 miles, I take the 10:00 service in the Porthmadog direction showcasing the beautiful (if slightly rainy) scenery and what's on offer as you step aboard the fantastic 3rd class carriages. My next video will be a continuation of this route, running the opposite way on the Ffestiniog Railway from Blaenau Ffestiniog back down to Porthmadog - I actually filmed this on two consecutive days! As usual, don't forget to "LIKE", "COMMENT" and "SUBSCRIBE"! Also check out my Instagram, Twitter and Facebook feeds as well for the latest updates :-D

Brittany Ferries, Pont Aven - Portsmouth to Santander

10:04
Snapchat: pauls_trips Twitter: @pauls_trips In this video, I travel on Britanny Ferries' flagship, the MV Pont Aven, between Portsmouth and Santander. Enjoy a complete walkthrough of the whole experience, right in the middle of low season. The ship was less than a quarter full, so there was plenty of room... This is marketed as a cruise ferry. We ended up in our own 4 berth cabin....this is a 24hr sailing so I definitely recommend getting a cabin! Enjoy the video. Don't forget to subscribe!

Arriving at Taipei Airport - Taoyuan Airport & MRT Train to Taipei City Centre - Taiwan Airport

27:24
►Watch all our AIRPORT VIDEOS, Link in comments section below. Arriving at Taipei Airport in Taiwan (Taoyuan Airport - 桃园机场). If this is your first visit to Taipei International Airport (Taoyun Airport -- 桃园机场 ) in Taiwan you should find this video helpful for getting an idea of the airport procedures when you arrive at this Airport located approximately 40 minutes MRT Train Ride from the Taipei City Center (Taipei Main Station). This Taipei Airport Arrival footage is filmed from the disembarkation of our flight (a China Airlines Flight from Amsterdam Airport), through the walk to the arrivals area. We then show you how to catch the MRT Train to the Taipei City Centre (Taipei Main MRT Station). The video begins with us disembarking our China Airlines flight. You the viewer then follow us through Taipei Airport (Taoyuan Airport - 桃园机场) as we make our way to first the Passport Control / Immigration Area, then the Baggage Collection area and then after finding out that our baggage has not arrived we make our way to the Lost Baggage Counter. We then pass through Customs and just after that we find a currency exchange booth where we can exchange our US Dollars to the Taiwan Currency which is called New Taiwan Dollars. We then make our way through to the Airport Arrivals Area from where we proceed to get information about Airport buses, Airport Trains and Taxis. We choose to take the MRT Train into the Taipei City Centre (Taipei Main Station). We then show you how to find the Airport MRT Train and which ticket to buy for the ride into Taipei City from Taoyuan Airport (Taipei Airport). We purchase a Taipei EasyCard and the train ride to Taipei Main Station from the airport costs 160 Taiwan New Dollars per person. We then ride the MRT Train from Taipei Airport to our destination Taipei Main Station and there we end off this video. We found Taipei International Airport (Taoyuan Airport - 桃园机场) to be very modern and easy to navigate. There were plenty of people to ask for help had we been in doubt. We purchased our MRT Train tickets from the train ticket sales office and the salesperson spoke good English. #airport #airports #arrival #travel #immigration #aviation #Flight #Traveller #MaxiMaro #TaipeiAirport #Taoyuan Airport #Taiwan #Taipei Wiki writes about Taipei International Airport (Taoyuan Airport - 桃园机场 ) , "Taiwan Taoyuan International Airport is an international airport serving the capital city of Taipei and northern Taiwan. Abraham Lincoln's long goodbye

07:24
Following the assassination of Abraham Lincoln, the president's remains made what was probably the most extraordinary train journey in American history, home to Springfield, Illinois. Robert Reed wrote about the 1,700-mile train ride witnessed by millions, and which was commemorated on its 150th anniversary with a special recreation, as Martha Teichner reports.
