Nowadays, many students can take the bus, bike or walk a couple of miles or are driven by parents or guardians. That’s not always the case for children in more remote areas; getting to school is a journey on its own. Whether it’s treacherous routes due to distance or environmental issues such as flooding roads, accessing an education is hard work. So while we may take our easy routes for granted, these brave kids certainly don’t. Despite the United Nation's eventual intervention, most of Liberia's young people continue to live in abject poverty, surrounded by filth, drug addiction, and teenage prostitution. The former child soldiers who were forced into war have been left to fend for themselves, the murderous warlords who once led them in cannibalistic rampages have taken up as so-called community leaders, and new militias are lying in wait for the opportunity to reclaim their country from a government they rightly mistrust. You can listen to the full audiobook Boomerang: Travels in the New Third World for free at audibay.com Format: Unabridged Written by: Michael Lewis Narrated by: Dylan Baker Release date: 10/3/2011 Duration: 7 hrs 12 mins Genres: Business From the #1 New York Times bestselling author of The Big Short, Liar's Poker and The Blind Side! The tsunami of cheap credit that rolled across the planet between 2002 and 2008 was more than a simple financial phenomenon: it was temptation, offering entire societies the chance to reveal aspects of their characters they could not normally afford to indulge. The Greeks wanted to turn their country into a pi'ata stuffed with cash and allow as many citizens as possible to take a at it. The Germans wanted to be even more German; the Irish wanted to stop being Irish. The trademark of Michael Lewis's bestsellers is to tell an important and complex story through characters so outsized and outrageously weird that you'd think they have to be invented. (You'd be wrong.) In Boomerang, we meet a brilliant monk who has figured out how to game Greek capitalism to save his failing monastery; a cod fisherman who, with three days' training, becomes a currency trader for an Icelandic bank; and an Irish real estate developer so outraged by the collapse of his business that he drives across the country to attack the Irish Parliament with his earth-moving equipment. Lewis's investigation of bubbles beyond our shores is so brilliantly, sadly hilarious that it leads the American listener to a comfortable complacency: Oh, those foolish foreigners. But when Lewis turns a merciless eye on California and Washington DC, we see that the narrative is a trap baited with humor, and we understand the reckoning that awaits the greatest and greediest of debtor nations. What are the most luxurious and expensive first class airlines in the world? Subscribe to our channel: http://goo.gl/9CwQhg Description: This particular video will probably make you feel really, really poor. But at the same time, will give you a new lease on life and goal to achieve. Flying first class is always an extra luxury that people with money can enjoy in their air travel. You can’t beat first class with the wider seats, the beverages, better food, and service that makes you feel like you’re royalty. If you’re flying across the country, then first class is definitely more comfortable, and you rarely have to deal with the tiny seats and being forced to be in closed quarters with complete strangers. But there are airlines who have taken the concept of first class and bumped it up a notched. Here are some of the most luxurious first class sections in the airline industry. The cost? Well, let’s just say you’ll probably have to save your salary for the next several years to be able to afford it. For $13,000 you can be a premiere passenger on an Air France flight, which includes a space where you can store all of your valuables, along with a bed, a reading lamp, and curtains so you can have some privacy. Quantas Airlines has a set up similar to that and puts it on steroids. If you’ve ever wanted to have the feeling like you’re on your very own jet, Quantas is the way to go with your own privacy pod that comes with its own suite, as well as a common area for wealthy passengers to get together and mingle. This can be all yours for $13,500. Ever wanted to know what it’s like to be tucked into bed by a flight attendant? Well, Singapore Airlines does just that. You’re immediately given pajamas that are designed by Givenchy, and toiletries by Ferragamo. Your seat can also be transformed into a fluffy bed, where the flight attendants will see to it that you’re tucked in and comfy. Tickets for this experience starts at $15,000. For $25,000, you can have the ultimate first class experience with Cathay Pacific Airlines, where you can have your own pod. This includes a chair that silently transforms into a full length bed. The pod is also adorned with a vase with orchids, so you feel a bit more at home and close to nature. Lufthansa has taken the first class game and improved it. Not only do you get a big comfy chair, but you get a bed as well. The chair is pumped with gadgets as well for your enjoyment. You don’t even have to worry about breathing dry air, as the cabin is pumped with a humidifier. Tickets for this experience starts at $27,000. Finally, these last two airlines are basically like flying hotel rooms. Emirates Airlines offers a private cabin with a mini bar, adjustable lighting, as well as a full shower with a marble sink. So if you really need to freshen up, it’s a lot better than the tiny bathroom in coach. They even have a communal lounge where you can enjoy drinks and hors d’ouerves. All of this can be yours for $30,000. Finally, we have Etihad Airways, who have diamond first class suites with three room cabins. These cabins also include a full size bathroom with a luxurious shower. You can even have your own butler! What’s the cost? $43,000. LIVING UNIVERSE is an interstellar adventure that seeks to answer the most profound question of all: are we alone? Based on the latest scientific knowledge, we will take a journey to a planet beyond our solar system in search of life. We ask the world's leading space scientists what we might find if we travel to a neighboring star system. Recent breakthroughs have proven that every star we see in the sky is orbited by at least one planet, many similar to our own Earth. How do we get to these "exoplanets"? Once there, what will we find? And what will it mean for humanity when we discover we are not alone? Our speculative journey through space is set a hundred years in the future - when we have the technology to journey well beyond our solar system. On this first expedition, our star ship Aurora will be piloted not by astronauts, but by the artificial intelligence (A.I.) we call Artemis. We imagine how Artemis travels through space, on its 25-year journey, at one fifth of the speed of light. Its objective is Minerva B, a planet much like our own, with an atmosphere, temperature and liquid water that appears a likely candidate to contain life. With spectacular special effects we will reach and explore a new planet as we seek to answer the most profound question of all: are we alone in the universe? Our guides on this journey are narrator Dr Karl Kruszelnicki and as the voice of our AI, Artemis, real-life astrophysicist, Professor Tamara Davis. Inspired and informed by our rapidly developing knowledge of far-off worlds, our best scientists - including NASA engineers, astrophysicists and astronomers - we will discover that this amazing journey is not only possible, it is inevitable. To venture into distant space is our destiny. LIVING UNIVERSE captures a pivotal moment in the human story. A film full of insight and inspiration certain to thrill anyone who dreams of distant worlds, or have ever wondered why are we here? Have you ever wondered that someone like you, sitting less than a mile away, in some other universe, exists? The possibility in itself seems frightening as well as astonishing. "From breaking news and intriguing historical documentaries to conspiracy theories, classified NASA files and UFO's. We provide you with material that the government doesn't want you to see." The Insomnia team comes up with a promise. To keep up with the same, the team now brings to us a documentary that aims to change your perspective Of another existence, of another possibility, as today, the scientists now believe there may really be the presence of a parallel universe - and in fact, also believe that there may be an infinite number of parallel universes, and where we live today just happens to be only one of them and many of these other parallel universes come with different laws of physics as well. These other universes that we are talking about not only contain space, time and strange forms of exotic matter but to surprise you, Some of them may even contain you, only maybe in a slightly different form. The thought itself is quite intriguing and scary on the same hand. The basis of this theory is as we know it the idea that parallel universes are constantly spinning off from reality that we humans know of. "Though generally ignored at the time, that theory has gone on to become not just a popular topic of study among respected physicists, but the inspiration for such popular films, television shows, and books as Star Trek and The Golden Compass." according to the sources. The video soon progresses into the Wilkinson Microwave Anisotropy Probe (WMAP), that is now changing everything, as some say that the remarkable images reveal the true shape of the universe through baby pictures of the same from the time when it was 4 hundred thousand years old, looking so back in time, when there wasn't even the formation of galaxies yet. The WMAP is catching the very first signs of creation as it is officially tagged with measuring radiation that is left over from Big Bang. And now scientists have devised an experiment to find the overall true shape of the universe. The WMAP hence shows that the universe is flat. From here arises the possibility of more mind boggling parallel universe that are of the level-2 type and is made up of giant cosmic soap bubbles that float in hyperspace. Each of these bubbles within it has a whole universe. Now, the question that arises is that - Do we all live in a giant cosmic bubble? Journey to another stars finding lives on other planets

Travel video about destination Malaysia. Malaysia is an exotic world located in the Far East, full of tradition and history. We begin our journey in Malacca, the oldest city on the southwest coast of the Peninsular Malaysia that boasts six hundred years of history. Both Portuguese and Jesuit settlers lived here for a hundred and thirty years and introduced their culture to the region. The city’s history dates back to 1403 when Hindu prince, Paramesware of the Sri Vijaya Realm in Sumatra, established a sultanate. The Chinese-dominated area of the city extends across the opposite banks of the river where the mainly two storey residential and business premises are densely packed together. In contrast, the Cheng Hoon Temple is one of the oldest temples in Malaysia and nearby is the Kampung Kling Mosque which is of ancient Sumatran design. Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia’s modern capital city, is relatively young. It originated in the middle of the nineteenth century at the junction of two rivers. Chinese pioneers discovered an abundance of minerals here. Since then, however, things have much improved and Kuala Lumpur is now one of the cleanest cities in the world with two steel towers as its unmistakeable landmark, connected by an impressive bridge. Since 1926, tea has been cultivated in the Cameron Highlands where the mild and rainy climate is ideal for its growth. British surveyor, William Cameron, discovered this region in 1885 and soon afterwards its wooded hills were transformed into tea plantations that now attract tourists from all over the world. Sarawak is located in Borneo, the third largest island on the planet. We start our journey through this Malayan federal state, in the northwest of the island, in the capital, Kuching. The British Empire had various buildings constructed in the city but its ethnic groups were content to remain within their own surroundings. Malaysia is like a magnificent fairy tale, a melting pot of various cultures and ethnic groups amid abundant tropical vegetation. Although Malaysia has changed, it has not forgotten the rich traditions of its indigenous tribes yet it is now a country that is travelling into a new age. -------------- Watch more travel videos ► https://goo.gl/MXPgSs Join us. The camp operated from the time when Austria was annexed into the German Third Reich in 8 August 1938, to 5 May 1945, at the end of the Second World War. Starting with a single camp at Mauthausen, the complex expanded over time and by the summer of 1940 Mauthausen had become one of the largest labour camp complexes in the German-controlled part of Europe, with four main subcamps at Mauthausen and nearby Gusen, and nearly 100 other subcamps located throughout Austria and southern Germany, directed from a central office at Mauthausen. This was my first day in a 3rd world country. Wait, is Mexico a third world country? I can't remember. I think it is, so actually, I've actually endured this before. I remember that Mexico was a little bit more wild. I mean, you could sort of do anything you wanted, but Egypt is actually filled with really proper Muslim people. Anyways, this was my first day in Africa, and I hope you like it.

When born with cleft lips and palates, these children will live a life of difficulty with speech and swallowing as well as being ostracized by their community. Dr Andrew Jacono travels to third world countries twice a year to perform plastic surgery on hundreds of children who would not get the care otherwise. This is a compilation of before and after images and pictures from his trips to Southeast Asia and South and Central America. He travels with multiple groups including Healing the Children, the HUGS foundation, and Beyond our Borders. To find out more about his practice and how you can contribute to these missions, visit http://www.newyorkfacialplasticsurgery.com

Many people daydream about traveling the world, but all of them have the same excuse - lack of money. Tomislav, after traveling the world for years with almost no money, shows how it is possible for everyone to do the same, if they really want to. Tomislav Perko, 29, is a travel writer from Croatia. After a career of a stockbroker, broke because of the financial crisis, he hits the road and turns it into his home. He uses alternative ways of traveling – hitchhiking, couchsurfing, working/volunteering, and manages to wander around the world with just a little bit of money in his pocket, meeting the most amazing people on the way. Five years later, he publishes a book “1000 Days of Spring” and goes around giving lectures about what it means to live on the road. Find out more on his website: http://tomislavperko.com/en/. Here's 24 reasons to travel the world. Living in one isn’t enough when there are 1,000’s if not 10,000’s of other worlds out there. Not literally planets, but tongues, cuisines, cultures, and the likes. This is why you should travel! Can you guess where I am right now? Vietnam. I’ll be in Israel February 12, 2019. ( If you’re in the area shoot me an email 🙂 ) I am a traveler and hope to do so until eternity. Money isn’t the issue. When you have a mortgage to pay, car loans, phone/internet/TV subscriptions/etc., then that can add up. Traveling the world is actually much cheaper than living in a 1st world country. I am living proof. With that being said, if you only desire to travel to 1st world countries, then your bank account is going to get a hell of a beating, but developing and even some third world countries are cheaper than the air you breathe in countries like the US or Australia. 1) Meet New People 2) Learn A New Tongue 3) Experience A Whole New World 4) Open Up Your Taste Buds 5) See What Nature Has To Offer 6) Cheaper Than You Think 7) Party Like A Rock Star Minus The Budget 8) Exciting 9) Complete Your Bucket List 10) Discover Something New 11) Real News Not Fake News 12) Unleash The Inner Human In You 13) Be Healthier 14) Relax And Reward Yourself 15) You May Never Go Back To Your Old Life 16) Better Living Condition 17) Meet Others Travelers 18) Become An Official Explorer/Traveler 19) Not Being Part Of The System 20) Be Truly Free 21) The Time Is Right 22) Get Off Social Media 23) Appreciate Life And How Blessed You Are 24) Realize Experiences Outweigh Materialism ================================================= Extra guides on Reasons To Travel The World. ► Click to read the ORIGINAL Reasons To Travel The World article: https://easylifejourney.com/travel-the-world/ ►How To Break Out Of Your Comfort Zone Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fbQhMTzj2X4 ► How To Be A Minimalist Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FRVPAOtAbg8 ► Live Your Life To The Fullest Video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3m8GoGBicv0 #reasonstotraveltheworld #whyyoushouldtravel #reasonswhyyoushouldtravel ================================================= Reasons To Travel The World | Drop EVERYTHING Here's 24 Reasons Why You Should Travel ================================================= ► Please hit the 👍🏻 like button if you enjoy this video. ► Hope you enjoyed this video, help us by 🙇♂️ ►SUBSCRIBING◄ to our YT channel! https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbLbibM1gn4KwG7S3MF3mUw?sub_confirmation=1 Why? It's the only American in Africa with a Tie Dyed Shirt on. The hotel was honestly one of the worst and gross hotels that I have ever seen in my life, but I needed internet, and they had it. I didn't plan for that. I honestly thought that I would have internet out there, but I guess not. The charges are like 5 times as much, and when I say, 5 times as much, I mean, 5 times as much. A lot of people might just randomly say it's this much, and I'll admit, even I do that sometimes, but it's actually about five times as much to use the cell phone in Africa then it is back in Los Angeles, CA. Anyways, I feel I've typed to much. Originally, this video was called, surviving my 1st night in a 3rd world country, but I changed it to the title it is now, which is nearly the same. Anyways, now I've really typed to much.

PBS America | Sky 534 | Virgin Media 243 | pbsamerica.co.uk Did you ever wonder what happens to the clothes you give away after you have finished with them? You probably thought that they ended up in the hands of the needy - but how did they get there? Shantha Bloemen's film investigates the secondhand clothes business and its effect on an increasingly globalised economy. The journey begins on the streets of a western city, where clothes are dropped off in charity bins, moves to a distributor who ships the clothes by the ton, and continues to Zambia where an importer then sells them to individuals, who form another link in the distribution chain. The film meets 19-year-old Luka, who supports his family by selling the clothes in a remote part of western Zambia. Secondhand clothes provide a livelihood for many like Luka, but for the Zambian clothing and textile industries, the cost has been enormous. Since the country's markets were opened to free trade in 1991, a condition demanded by the country's international creditors in return for debt relief, the domestic clothes manufacturing industry has been effectively wiped out. Having followed the t-shirts on their travels, the documentary raises more questions than it answers. Meanwhile, the twin problems of debt and poverty in sub-Saharan Africa remain as acute as they were when this film was made.

As part of the creativity portion of CAS, I decided to make a “Travel Diary or Travel Video” of my visit to the Philippines. This video was inspired by many other Youtubers’ videos along with a continuation of my Spain Travel Video. I initially wanted to create this travel video for my future self to look back on to and hopefully make me feel nostalgic about the memories I took and may forget. After going through all the videos I took, I realized that there was beauty beyond all the stereotypes that the Philippines has as a third world country. Typically third world countries are viewed for their impoverished ways of living, the dirty streets, the people’s seemingly inability to afford materials, and more specifically, markets or little, run-down buildings. Although this may be true in some areas of the Philippines, there are also other places that define the beauty hidden in third world countries. And that is what I tried to illustrate in this video-to break the stereotypes of the ‘poorness’ of third world countries. From the hundreds of thousands of square feet of the malls, to the recreation of Venice in a mall, to the white-sanded beaches and islands, to simply the fresh coconuts, the Philippines has this hidden beauty that is not seen in people’s heads when they hear the term “Third World Country.” Therefore, in creating and sharing this video with my experiences in the Philippines, I hope to be able to break the stereotypes or image of a third world country. In addition, I also hope to show the beauty in a different culture. This is seen in the video with the varying foods to the variations of scenery all throughout my travels. Now down through the logistics of actually producing and creating this video. Although I am not an IB Film student, there is a clear growth between my Spain Travel Video and this Philippines Video. By rewatching the Spain Video and getting inspiration from other Youtubers, I learned various techniques and methods to better this travel diary. First, I learned from a fellow IB Film student that when recording with a phone, the phone must be landscaped in order to fill the screen when watching the video. By taking inspiration from YouTubers, I shortened or lengthened each video that was taken with beats that stood out. By using these improvements, I am able to show my video to be more engaging. The challenges I faced in producing this video were finding the different sceneries and shots to take throughout my travels. In addition, when taking this videos, it was challenging when to take them as I was, at first, shy and hesitant on people wondering or watching me take the videos. Since Filipinos tend to stare, I was nervous on passers judging why I was taking videos of everything. At first, I was nervous, but I was able to overcome those feelings, as I felt more and more comfortable taking videos and also not worrying on the thoughts of other people as I would probably never see them again. Overall, when producing this video and traveling to the Philippines, I have gained so much more experience and cultural understanding of a country that differs from my way of living now. Yet, on the other hand, I was also able to find the varying charms and values that I don’t encounter everyday here in Grand Junction. And most importantly, I learned and experienced so much of my own culture to have the realization to never forget where I come from and to also,, express my gratitude towards it as it has helped me and others better find the beauties in a place that is typically stereotyped as always having troubles or having a lesser value than first world countries.
