What is TRICKLE-DOWN EFFECT? What does TRICKLE-DOWN EFFECT mean? TRICKLE-DOWN EFFECT meaning - TRICKLE-DOWN EFFECT definition - TRICKLE-DOWN EFFECT explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ The trickle-down effect is a model of product adoption in marketing that affects many consumer goods and services. It states that fashion flows vertically from the upper classes to the lower classes within society, each social class influenced by a higher social class. Two conflicting principles drive this diffusion dynamic. Lesser social groups seek to establish new status claims by adopting the fashions of higher social groups in imitation, whilst higher social groups respond by adopting new fashions to differentiate themselves. This provokes an endless cycle of change, driving fashion forward in a continual process of innovation. Due to this dynamic, initially a product may be so expensive that only the wealthy can afford it. Over time, however, the price will fall until it is inexpensive enough for the general public to purchase. The trickle down theory has long been identified as a central principle of explanation for the historical study of fashion and its sociological implications When applied to fashion, the theory states that a style is first offered and adopted by the top strata of society and gradually becomes accepted by subordinate groups. This because fashion is considered a vehicle of conspicuous consumption and upward mobility within society and allowed people to express their individuality whilst maintaining the security of conformity with other members of their social stratum. DAVIS. When a lower social class, or a class simply perceived to be subordinate, adopts the fashion, it is rejected by the superordinate social class as it is no longer desirable, and another fashion assumed. The trickle-down theory offers a straightforward way of predicting fashion diffusion. If a lesser social group begins to appropriate superordinate fashion by wearing cheaper versions of styles, the superordinate group will likely differentiate themselves by assuming a new trend, leading to further acts of appropriation by the subordinate group. A trickle-down theory that supplies a cultural context (EXAMPLE) can predict not only the fact that the fashion change will take place, but also the direction and properties of the change. The affordability aspect of the trickle-down theory is still highly applicable to the contemporary fashion industry. This can be seen, for example, when looking at the movement of a trend from catwalk to high street. When a catwalk trend is assumed by the affluent at a high price, comparable pieces may be released by high street stores at a cheaper price to meet the demand of the perceived lower classes, who seek to imitate the fashion behaviour of the affluent. Basically, in a shorter description who started the trend in the upper class and how they influenced others to use/wear/carry on the trend down to the lower class. Whilst the theory has received a considerable amount of attention due to its pioneering nature, conceptual development and its use in subsequent and related explanations of fashion diffusion and change, it faces many criticisms. In a revision of the theory, McCracken states that the Simmel does not explain the trickle down effect in its full detail and complexity, failing to account for the fact that only the lowest and highest-ranking groups in society have a single motive for their consumer behaviour. The lowest-ranking group have no lower group from which they must differentiate themselves so act solely in imitation whilst the highest-ranking group acts only to differentiate themselves as they have no higher-ranking social group to imitate. All intermediate groups, however, may have a dual motive. They may act either in imitation, in differentiation or both. ...

You Think This Has Nothing to Do With You (The Devil Wears Prada)
JOIN US: www.GayHills.com The Gay Social Network- This... 'stuff'? Oh... ok. I see, you think this has nothing to do with you. You go to your closet and you select out, oh I don't know, that lumpy blue sweater, for instance, because you're trying to tell the world that you take yourself too seriously to care about what you put on your back. But what you don't know is that that sweater is not just blue, it's not turquoise, it's not lapis, it's actually cerulean. You're also blindly unaware of the fact that in 2002, Oscar de la Renta did a collection of cerulean gowns. And then I think it was Yves St Laurent, wasn't it, who showed cerulean military jackets? And then cerulean quickly showed up in the collections of eight different designers. Then it filtered down through the department stores and then trickled on down into some tragic "casual corner" where you, no doubt, fished it out of some clearance bin. However, that blue represents millions of dollars and countless jobs and so it's sort of comical how you think that you've made a choice that exempts you from the fashion industry when, in fact, you're wearing the sweater that was selected for you by the people in this room. From a pile of "stuff."

The Trickle Down Effect from Catwalk to Retail
Views: 417 TwistedAngleMag
Recently, I conducted the session conflict management for the top-notch international organisation for middle managers, who lead sales staff and report to senior managers. After greeting and energizer, I asked them, 1st question, when you listen the word “CONFLICT”, what does come in your mind or what picture do you see? Honestly speaking, majority of the participants replied, when two or more than two people start fighting, dumping the peace, creating the chaos and deteriorating the environment. As far as picture is concerned, few of them replied “See husband and wife relation” Lots of laughs. On serious notes, one of the participants stood up and shared the long story of picture. TRICKLE DOWN EFFECT: HUSBAND’S & WIFE REACTION: He started with “That year cats could not bear babies” But here, I am summarizing for you in a nutshell. There was a young man, working in marketing firm in metropole city, due to an excessive pressure of work, he routinely comes late at home. One day, he got up late in the morning, reported late in the meeting, of-course delayed in submitting important assignment. What do you expect, what had had happened with young man? If you are thinking about insult program, it means you are thinking right, the boss started insult program and kept on taunting him whole day in every task. Literally speaking, young man lost his whole self-esteem. When, he reached home, his wife opened the door with fascinating smile and happy mood. Very next moment, she asked husband cheerfully, please take a shower, come down stairs, because she has cooked a favorite dish with delicious desserts. He turned down, started looking at her face like hungry wolf, then he shouted, what the F**k, nothing is my favorite, screamed that he doesn’t need any of your hand made food. After verbal violence, he went up to stairs, entered into room, locked the door and laid down on the bed. BROTHER, DOG & CATS Two of his sons were playing in their room as usual, she suddenly saw one of her elder kid, who was messing up the floor with painting colors, she grabbed his collar, screamed like witch, slapped too hard and moved away. After a while, elder son saw, younger brother, who was playing catch-catch with tape ball against wall, elder one took the ball and threw that outside, kicked him off on butt very hard, and he ran away. Younger one got too much angry, he had nothing around to flush his anger out. He went outside, saw a stone, picked that up and hit the dog. Who was sitting in the street. Dog barked and ran away. While running, he saw two cats were busy in romance, then dog started barking on them too. Cats romance business got disturbed. Due to that disturbance they could not continue. Therefore, “that year cats could not bear the babies” After listening whole story, the participants asked question, hence who is the responsible of that cats could not bear the babies? Option of expected responsible people are given below: Boss Husband Wife Elder one Younger one Dog The answer is, “Husband”. After trickledown effect, I asked another question from audience, When conflict happens? I received different answers and different answers. But here, I am not going to share anyone’s story, rather I would share my research. FIVE FACTORS OF CONFLICT Collision Disagreement Controversy Opposing demands Fixed mindset COLLISION Imagine two airplanes are flying at height of 40,000 feet, and both are coming from different directions. #16 Failure of the trickle-down theory (HD)
Series of lectures on the Indian economy: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheFloatingSchool This is the 16th video under the series "Indian Economy". The Indian government had immense faith in the trickle-down theory, for about 27 years (1947-74). Although it is an universal theory but it miserably failed in India. The country witnessed high levels of poverty during these 27 years. The situation became so worse that the government finally had to accept the fact that the trickle-down theory had failed in India! But the question is, why did an universal theory fail in India? Watch the video for details: https://youtu.be/o5hOdnshQLU Subscribe to the channel: https://www.youtube.com/c/TheFloatingSchool

Ed Asner's Anti 'Trickle Down' Video - Fox News Fury
"An animated video, narrated by actor Ed Asner, from the California Federation of Teachers recently caused controversy for a scene where a wealthy man urinates on poor people. Fox News host Sean Hannity sent one of his 'Hannity' producers to interview Asner about the video, but not before introducing Asner as a "radical left-wing Hollywood actor," reports Mediaite.com. Asner said: "I don't remember a thing I said on it or a word I said on it, but I agreed to do it for California teachers. I approve this message." The 'Hannity' producer said: "There's a part of it where it talks about things trickling down and they have rich people peeing on poor people." Asner replied: "How disgusting. It should be reversed." The 'Hannity' producer asked: "So you don't remember that?" Asner answered: "Do you have any money? Can I p*ss on you?"* Ed Asner voiced over a cartoon showing trickle-down theory (with the rich peeing on the poor) and commented back to a "Hannity" producer who tried to confront him on it. Fox News' hosts Sean Hannity and Michelle Malkin reacted in typical fashion, calling him a thug in faux-outrage. Sarokaar - Has trickle-down theory failed?
The recent study of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) came one with a finding that that the major economic theory -- ‘trickle-down theory’ does not work. Although the IMF has not given a conclusion on its findings but the facts which emerged from the research are still very important. The study showed that the increase in the earning of rich has not shown increase in the overall economic growth rate while the increase in the income of poor leads to its increment. In this episode of Sarokaar we talked about the current stage of world economy; the on-going investigations of the different causes of economic inequality and try to find out whether there is any economic theory which can claim to eliminate the economic inequality. Guests: Nitin Desai (Former Chief Economic Advisor, GOI & Senior Economist) ; Arun Kumar (Professor, CESP/SSS, JNU) ; Anjali Bhardwaj (Secretary, National Campaign for Peoples’ Right to Information (NCPRI)) ; Subhomoy Bhattacharjee (Executive Editor, The Indian Express) ; Tapan Kumar Sen (MP, CPI-M) Anchor: Amrita Rai

What is TRICKLE-DOWN ECONOMICS? What does TRICKLE-DOWN ECONOMICS mean? TRICKLE-DOWN ECONOMICS meaning - TRICKLE-DOWN ECONOMICS definition - TRICKLE-DOWN ECONOMICS explanation. Source: Wikipedia.org article, adapted under https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/3.0/ license. SUBSCRIBE to our Google Earth flights channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC6UuCPh7GrXznZi0Hz2YQnQ Trickle-down economics, also referred to as trickle-down theory, is an economic theory that advocates reducing taxes on businesses and the wealthy in society as a means to stimulate business investment in the short term and benefit society at large in the long term. It is a form of laissez-faire capitalism in general and more specifically supply-side economics. Whereas general supply-side theory favors lowering taxes overall, trickle-down theory more specifically targets taxes on the upper end of the economic spectrum. The term "trickle-down" originated as a joke by humorist Will Rogers and today is often used to criticize economic policies which favor the wealthy or privileged, while being framed as good for the average citizen. In recent history, it has been used by critics of supply-side economic policies, such as "Reaganomics". David Stockman, who as Ronald Reagan's budget director championed Reagan's tax cuts at first, but then became critical of them, told journalist William Greider that the "supply-side economics" is the trickle-down idea: It's kind of hard to sell 'trickle down,' so the supply-side formula was the only way to get a tax policy that was really 'trickle down.' Supply-side is 'trickle-down' theory. — David Stockman, The Atlantic Political opponents of the Reagan administration soon seized on this language in an effort to brand the administration as caring only about the wealthy. Multiple studies have found a correlation between trickle-down economics and reduced growth. Trickle-down economics has been widely criticised particularly by left-wing (liberal) and moderate politicians and economists, but also some right-wing (conservative) politicians. In 1896, Democratic presidential candidate William Jennings Bryan described the concept using the metaphor of a "leak" in his famous Cross of Gold speech: There are two ideas of government. There are those who believe that if you just legislate to make the well-to-do prosperous, that their prosperity will leak through on those below. The Democratic idea has been that if you legislate to make the masses prosperous their prosperity will find its way up and through every class that rests upon it. Humorist Will Rogers jokingly advised in a column in 1932: This election was lost four and six years ago, not this year. They didn’t start thinking of the old common fellow till just as they started out on the election tour. The money was all appropriated for the top in the hopes that it would trickle down to the needy. Mr. Hoover was an engineer. He knew that water trickles down. Put it uphill and let it go and it will reach the driest little spot. But he didn’t know that money trickled up. Give it to the people at the bottom and the people at the top will have it before night, anyhow. But it will at least have passed through the poor fellows hands. They saved the big banks, but the little ones went up the flue. William J. Bennett wrote: Humorist Will Rogers referred to the theory that cutting taxes for higher earners and businesses was a "trickle down" policy, a term that has stuck over the years. Presidential speech writer Samuel Rosenman wrote: The philosophy that had prevailed in Washington since 1921, that the object of government was to provide prosperity for those who lived and worked at the top of the economic pyramid, in the belief that prosperity would trickle down to the bottom of the heap and benefit all.....
