The Map of Mathematics

11:06
The entire field of mathematics summarised in a single map! This shows how pure mathematics and applied mathematics relate to each other and all of the sub-topics they are made from. If you would like to buy a poster of this map, they are available here: North America: https://store.dftba.com/products/map-of-mathematics-poster Everywhere else: http://www.redbubble.com/people/dominicwalliman/works/25095968-the-map-of-mathematics I have also made a version available for educational use which you can find here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/[email protected]/32264483720/in/dateposted-public/ To err is to human, and I human a lot. I always try my best to be as correct as possible, but unfortunately I make mistakes. This is the errata where I correct my silly mistakes. My goal is to one day do a video with no errors! 1. The number one is not a prime number. The definition of a prime number is a number can be divided evenly only by 1, or itself. And it must be a whole number GREATER than 1. (This last bit is the bit I forgot). 2. In the trigonometry section I drew cos(theta) = opposite / adjacent. This is the kind of thing you learn in high school and guess what. I got it wrong! Dummy. It should be cos(theta) = adjacent / hypotenuse. 3. My drawing of dice is slightly wrong. Most dice have their opposite sides adding up to 7, so when I drew 3 and 4 next to each other that is incorrect. 4. I said that the Gödel Incompleteness Theorems implied that mathematics is made up by humans, but that is wrong, just ignore that statement. I have learned more about it now, here is a good video explaining it: https://youtu.be/O4ndIDcDSGc 5. In the animation about imaginary numbers I drew the real axis as vertical and the imaginary axis as horizontal which is opposite to the conventional way it is done. Thanks so much to my supporters on Patreon. I hope to make money from my videos one day, but I’m not there yet! Group Definition (expanded) - Abstract Algebra

11:15
The group is the most fundamental object you will study in abstract algebra. Groups generalize a wide variety of mathematical sets: the integers, symmetries of shapes, modular arithmetic, NxM matrices, and much more. After learning about groups in detail, you will then be ready to continue your study of abstract algebra be learning about rings, fields, modules and vector spaces. How To Solve For The Area. Viral Homework Problem From China

What is the total area of the red spots? The diagram involves a rectangle with dimensions of 10 and 20. Inside the rectangle one of its diagonals is connected. There are two circles of equal size that are tangent to each other and the rectangle. The video presents the solution to one version of the problem and then the solution to a second, much harder version, that was said to be assigned to 6th graders in China. Polynomials Class 10th Math Find quadratic polynomial with sum and product of roots as -1/4, 1/4

04:41
Mathematics Class 10th Polynomials Find quadratic polynomial with sum and product of zeros as -1/4, 1/4. solution of In class 9th and 8th, we learnt that a polynomial is an expression consisting of variables and coefficients, that involves only the operations of addition, subtraction, multiplication, and non-negative integer exponents of variables. The highest power of the variable in a polynomial is called degree of the polynomial. Hence, A polynomial with degree1 is called linear polynomial, A polynomial with degree 2 is called quadratic polynomial, and a polynomial with degree 3 is called cubic polynomial. A polynomial comprises of terms and if polynomial contains only one term it is called monomial, a polynomial having two terms is called binomial, and having three terms is called trinomial. If a polynomial has more than three terms we call is polynomial. In this series of video lessons by Mathetonic we shall learn: 1. What a polynomial is. 2. Types of polynomials on basis of degree and number of terms. 3. Find zeroes of polynomials (quadratic polynomials and cubic polynomials) 4. Relationship between the zeroes and the coefficients of the polynomials. 5. Find quadratic polynomial when sum and product of the zeroes of the polynomial are given. 6. Solve the questions by splitting middle term. 7. Division algorithm of polynomial. (Divide a polynomial by another polynomial) The mathematics channel from Jammu and Kashmir. Area Model Multiplication Song | 3rd - 4th Grade

02:51
🍎 You're cordially invited to come check out our growing library of award-winning math video animations at https://www.numberock.com 🍎 Thank you for watching our Area Model Multiplication Song. »»-------------¤-------------««»»-------------¤-------------«« Q. What is the area method? A. The area method is an alternative to the standard algorithmic method for long multiplication and is sometimes also called the box method. The advantage of this method is it helps to promote understanding and encourages the development of mathematical thinking. Q. What grade levels do this video target? A. This video targets learning standards in 3rd Grade to 5th Grade. This video also targets standards in the UK from KS2 (Years 4-6) Q. Where did you guys come from? A. Numberock is a project that I, Mr. Hehn, began as a 5th Grade math teacher of 7 years. It came together after years of experimenting with my lessons trying to figure out the best way to help my students retain the math concepts they were learning. Q. Does Numberock drive real results in the classroom? A. I knew I found the secret sauce when not only were my students retaining the concepts longer, they were singing the songs outside of the classroom during recess and at home with their parents during dinnertime. The songs were so catchy, my students couldn't get the math songs out of their head! During testing, I often found my students humming the melodies in order to jostle their memory of a rule or problem solving process. As we've all experienced, there is something about the power of music that allows us to retain information easier and for longer periods of time. Without getting into the finer details of multi-sensory learning and how it often helps the students who most need the help, the power of a catchy song is hard to deny. Q. I love your songs. Where can I experience more of what NUMBEROCK has to offer? We have additional teaching resources that are always expanding over at https://www.numberock.com. For the low price of $4.95/month, premium members gain access to video-aligned activities like worksheets, printable posters/anchor charts, task cards, self-graded assessments, games, and more. Coming Soon: 1. Self-Graded Assessments | These will soon be available for every Common Core and TEKS standard from 2nd-6th Grade so you'll be able to track and monitor student progress while your students complete standards-aligned quizzes that are integrated with the NUMBEROCK video they just watched. 2. Number Notes | Were currently working on creating exercises where students will be able to take notes artistically on printable templates featuring characters from the videos. Research has shown that this will help to integrate their artistic side side of the student's brain with the mathematical side of their brain which helps with long-term memory retention. Our own research has shown us that teacher's who use start using these templates love them! It seems to be a natural fit as we move beyond our unique auditory learning tools into visual learning tools, that when used in concert, cater to the different types of learners that you teach everyday. 🍎 Hope to see you at https://numberock.com! 🍎 Our Area Model Multiplication video is aligned with the following Common Core standards: 4.NBT.5 Multiply a whole number of up to four digits by a one-digit whole number, and multiply two two-digit numbers, using strategies based on place value and the properties of operations. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models. 5.NBT.B.6 Find whole-number quotients of whole numbers with up to four-digit dividends and two-digit divisors, using strategies based on place value, the properties of operations, and/or the relationship between multiplication and division. Illustrate and explain the calculation by using equations, rectangular arrays, and/or area models.

How Much Math do Engineers Use? (College Vs Career)

10:47
What Math Classes do Engineers Take? - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRxsfgilBKY In this video I discuss "How much math do engineers use?" Specifically I dive into the math they use in college vs their career. For a video like this there isn't a right answer because there are millions of engineers out there all with their unique experience. But after asking and looking around you will find consistencies in what a typical engineer would experience in their job. To summarize the math in the engineering curriculum is typically more intensive than what you'll experience in your career. This is not to say your career will be easier, but it does mean that the rigorous math you did on your tests in engineering, is not typically what you'll do at a job. You still have to have a mathematical foundation on the advanced concepts, but you don't do the tedious work as much. If you do enjoy math then there are plenty of jobs out there that use math exclusively, but you may have to work your way up to those positions. You should look into what different engineering majors are like and make sure you go into a career that best fits your interests. *************************************** For information on math, science, and engineering majors, check us out at https://majorprep.com *************************************** ►Patreon: https://patreon.com/majorprep ►PayPal: https://www.paypal.me/majorprep ►Facebook: https://facebook.com/majorprep

How To Solve Google's 25 Horses Interview Question

09:03
There are 25 mechanical horses and a single racetrack. Each horse completes the track in a pre-programmed time, and the horses all have different finishing times, unknown to you. You can race 5 horses at a time. After a race is over, you get a printout with the order the horses finished, but not the finishing times of the horses. What is the minimum number of races you need to identify the fastest 3 horses? I was suggested this puzzle via email by Terry Stickels. This is also a popular interview question at tech companies like Google.
