06 of 13 - Oracle APEX 5 - Define UI (user interface) defaults; modify a navigation menu item

12:04
A new series using APEX 18.1 is now available. https://youtu.be/9_2Hxi7rANw This is one in a series of videos about creating an application using Oracle APEX 5. In this video we look at the user interface (UI) defaults for columns in tables and how to change these. Changing UI defaults to user-friendly text will help make APEX-generated reports and forms easier to read and use. We also look at how to change a navigation menu item so that it opens a different report page. This edit is done in the Shared Components section of APEX. SQL scripts for this series are available to download at: http://db.kreie.net

Identifying & Locking default (service) accounts in Oracle

01:37
Oracle default installation comes up with several database accounts that're opened and have escalated privileges. Oracle database installs with a number of default database user accounts. Upon successful installation of the database, the Database Configuration Assistant automatically locks and expires most default database user accounts. If you perform a manual (without using Database Configuration Assistant) installation of Oracle Database, then no default database users are locked upon successful installation of the database server. Or, if you have upgraded from a previous release of Oracle Database, you might have default accounts from earlier releases. Left open in their default states, these user accounts can be exploited, to gain unauthorized access to data or disrupt database operations. You should lock and expire all default database user accounts. Oracle Database provides SQL statements to perform these operations.

How to Create an user in Oracle

14:49
How to Create an user in Oracle with minimum grants/privileges we need to connect as SYSDBA lets ceate an user test you can see the user is created : But can it connect? lets open a new session we can see it lacks create session priv. so, we grant the create session privilege to user test lets test Its connecting. But is it able to create a table ,lets check. it lacks the ability to create table. SO lets give the privilege. lets test again the create table command. its throwing error regarding no Privilege on users tablespace . But we have given USERS as the default tablespace to test(user). So whats the problem? The problem is there is not quota defined for user test. lets give some quota like "10MB" or UNLIMITED , we will giev 10MB NOw let us test. So we can see that we now have sufficient / minimum privileges for the user test. Hope this will help in understanding the concept behind user creation

Oracle PBCS Preferences and User Variables Oracle PBCS Trainng

04:16
Oracle PBCS Preferences and User Variables Oracle PBCS Trainng http://keyteach.com/self-paced-training/on-demand-courses/pbcs-administrator-on-demand When users first used PBCS it's valuable for them to set their preferences and user variables. I've come into the Navigator menu and I'm going to go into this item here preferences which is found under create and manage. From here, a user can set their display options which governs how their numbers will be formatted and more importantly they'll be able to set up their user variables. I'll be showing you how to do this in a moment and later in the course we'll be concentrating in a little more detail on these variables and how they're used for the display options. We have a set of drop-down menus for each of the number formatting options in addition to things like page options and various other options to do with date formats and so forth if we just concentrate on number formatting you'll see that first of all there is a checkbox which allows us to use the application defaults as set by the administrator. I can override any of these by unclicking the check box underneath use application default, or alternatively of course I can uncheck use application default so this is a shortcut to allow users to use the application defaults if they wish but I can set these preferences for each individual setting so for instance for my thousand separator, I can use the formatting governed by the currency in use or I can specifically set for instance comma and then for my decimal separator perhaps dot to save these settings. I need to scroll to the bottom of the screen and then click Save and there those settings have been saved and this process applies to any of the other settings that you see in these various tabs here and that includes printing options now what I want to focus on is user variables these are very important as I mentioned we'll be concentrating on variables later in the course but suffice to say that these user variables are used extensively within data forms and therefore it's very important that the user populates these appropriately before trying to use the data forms which make use of them. If they don't then they won't be able to open those associated data forms now I'm just going to fill in this one here current forecast of course in practice the user would be expected to populate all of these user variables so for my current forecast user variable this is picking something from the scenario dimension. So I have a choice I could simply type in here the name of the scenario that I want to use, but that assumes that I know the exact name, alternatively I can use this selection button at the right-hand end of the field from here which has opened my scenario dimension. I can now either search for a particular member or if I know where it is I can come and expand the hierarchy until I find it in this case forecast 3 + 9 I'll select it and use the Add button to move it across before clicking ok to populate the user variable. So again having done that I can scroll to the bottom of the screen and click Save and now my user variables are saved from a user perspective this is a one-off operation and only needs to be done the first time they use PBCS although your internal processes may require users to come and change these from time to time so that's setting preferences and user variables

Oracle Fusion Training - Session 2- How to Setup User

This session covers the topic on how to setup user account in Oracle Fusion Cloud. Explains what are the mandatory fields to be entered in application for setting up a basic user. After logging into Oracle Fusion with right role access, you'll have to navigate to Security Console. There'll be user account tab which should be used to create new user account. Ideally, user should have default roles depending on the implementation. Otherwise, it won't have any default role. However, you'll still be able to use this new user account to login and browse few pages in Fusion cloud.

Oracle SQL Tutorial 11 - CREATE TABLE

05:04
The way you create a table is to use the CREATE TABLE command. CREATE TABLE users() So in this situation, the name comes right after the TABLE keyword. The next thing we do is put all of the columns on a line that we want to put in our table. CREATE TABLE users( user_id, username, first_name, last_name ) Notice the naming conventions here. For this series we are going to make columns with what is known as snake casing. This is where each individual word is separated by an underscore. if you have more than one column, all of them have to have commas except the last one. The comma is a way to say that another column is coming, so you don't need to do it on the last one. Now you would think we were done, but we also have to say what data type each column is. Later we will extensively discuss data types so we can focus on them exclusively. For now, here are the data types we are going to use: CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR2(50), first_name VARCHAR2(50), last_name VARCHAR2(50) ) Now, inside of the parenthesis for varchar2, we pass in a number... This is the max length of the string. But the question is, what is it measured in? The default is actually in bytes, not characters. For example if we have the string hello, it is 5 characters, but it might take up a total of 10 bytes of storage. So I would recommend adding the keyword char right after the number so it defaults to 50 characters, not bytes. CREATE TABLE users( user_id NUMBER, username VARCHAR(50 CHAR), first_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR), last_name VARCHAR2(50 CHAR) ) This will work to create a table, but it's really missing a lot of information… which column is the primary key? Are we adding any indexes? Is there any thing else we need to say about these columns? So as you can tell, we are making progress, but there is still so much to learn. The biggest gotcha to remember from this video is that the data type VARCHAR ends in a 2, stupid, right? who would end the name of something with a 2? 1 Create SDE Tablespace

01:29
Creating the sde user and tablespace in Oracle After you install Oracle, you must create a user named sde, in whose schema the geodatabase will be stored. You should also create a default tablespace for this user. In most cases, this user is a database-authenticated user. The instructions in this topic describe creating this user and tablespace. If you want to use an operating system (OS) authenticated user, see your Oracle documentation for instructions on setting up an OS-authenticated account.

Simplified DBA-018-User Privileges

13:21
A privilege is a right to execute a particular type of SQL statement or to access another user’s object. The Oracle database enables you to control what the users can and cannot do in the database. Privileges are divided into two categories: System privileges: Each system privilege allows a user to perform a particular database operation or class of database operations. For example, the privilege to create tablespaces is a system privilege. System privileges can be granted by the administrator or by someone who has been given explicit permission to administer the privilege. Object privileges: Object privileges allow a user to perform a particular action on a specific object, such as a table, view, sequence, procedure, function, or package. Without specific permission, users can access only their own objects. Object privileges can be granted by the owner of an object, by the administrator, or by someone who has been explicitly given permission to grant privileges on the object. For example, in our demo ERPUSER will own the tables and other users will require read, write object privileges on ERPUSER tables. Example Connect erpuser/welcome1 Grant insert on myable1 to user1; Grant insert on myable1 to user5 Create tablespace erp_data datafile ‘/u01/app/oradata/db11lin/erpdata01.dbf’ size 100M autoextend on; Create user erpuser identified by welcome1 default tablespace erp_data temporary tablespace temp; Grant connect, resource to erpuser; Create user user1 identified by welcome1 default tablespace erp_data temporary tablespace temp; Create table erpuser.mytable1 ( sno number(5), sname varchar2(20)); We can create a table for any user in this format if we have dba privileges. [owner.tablename] Connect user1/welcome1 Insert into erpuser.mytable1 values(100, ‘by user1’); Commit;

Add User and password authentication to virtualbox vm RDP connection

08:24
Secure virtual machine RDP connections with user authentication. In this tutorial I show you how to implement user and password authentication for RDP connections in Virtualbox. Virtualbox allows for a lot of flexibility in the implementation of user and password authentication for RDP connections. Through the use of external authentication libraries you are able to chose a multitude of authentication schemes that suit your security needs. The two built in methods are the default VBOXAUTH library that uses PAM on Linux systems and the VBOXAuthSimple library that allows you to store user and password information within the VM's hardware configuration file. As the VBOXAuthSimple library stores user information within the hardware configuration file as "extradata" you are able to move the VM to another host machine and have the users and paswords go with it. Where as with the default VBOXAUTH method you would need to setup the users again on the new host machine. Another plus is that the VBOXAuthSimple method of storing passwords and usernames would be OS agnostic.
