From Pixels to Vogue: Making of Surreal Fashion by Miss Aniela

03:57
Miss Aniela on Facebook: http://www.facebook.com/missanielaphotography "Ever wondered what goes into a complicated composite, or just intrigued to watch a curious dance of birds, brushes and bongos? This is a speeded up insight into making 'Migration Season', an image from my Surreal Fashion series. "Whilst shooting at a quirky location in London I had the notion of doing something surreal in post-processing with the bird wallpaper. I didn't quite know exactly what, but this video shows how I select from all the shots, including a bank of shots I took of the birds, and brought them together, 'to life', in Photoshop. Upon completion, the final piece then becomes part of two magazine features including April 2012's Vogue Italia. "The whole process in reality took about 9 hours - but that's with all the decision-making involved and wrangling with the unknowns. This is the most detailed I've yet shown my post-processing workflow online." Betony Vernon interviews Dita Von Teese - Vogue Italy

06:05
In an exclusive interview for Vogue.it with another style icon, the designer/sexologist Betony Vernon, Dita explains she wants "to stay true to the history of American burlesque, as it was in the 30s and 40s," but also wants burlesque to evolve "with certain different technology, and costumes, set scenery and even music." She adds: "A lot of people are misunderstanding what it [burlesque] is about, trying to take away the striptease and the element of risqué and make it just a fashion style." For this reason, it's important to excite the interest on the past of this form of entertainment.

► yoox.com presents Who is On Next? Women in collaboration with ALTAROMA and VOGUE ITALIA

00:50
http://yoox.ly/WhoIsOnNextWomen Again this year, yoox.com, the online retailer and media partner for Who Is On Next? Donna, presents an exclusive preview of the winning collections of the eleventh edition. L72, Giannico and Lolita Lorenzo are the young fashion talents have been awarded first prize for their clothing and accessories in front of judges from the prestigious competition promoted by Altaroma and Vogue Italia. L72 You can't define Lee Wood if not as eclectic. English by birth, in 2015 he founded the brand L72, which blends opposing elements: sportswear meets sartorial details, the silhouette is minimal and sensual at the same time. The "uniform" concept gets revisited, constantly playing with the boundries between men's and women's wardrobes. GIANNICO Born in Milan, Nicolò Beretta launched the shoe brand Giannico at just seventeen years old. The Spring/Summer collection inspires a colorful mood, pool parties and afternoons spent in the shade of palm trees. The collection was influenced by the atmosphere of Sydney where he lived with his family. His creations have been worn on the red carpet by numerous Hollywood stars. LOLITA LORENZO Carol Oyekunle is originally from Kenya but established herself in Canada, followed by New York and then Paris, where she created the brand Lolita Lorenzo. Her accessories reflect her multicultural background. The collection combines traditional African fabrics with more contemporary forms, creating unique objects thanks to the collaboration with a group of Nigerian women and some Italian artisans. The winning collection of the competition was inspired by wall paintings of the Ndebele. **** yoox.com, established in 2000, is the world’s leading online lifestyle store for fashion, design and art. Selly Raby Kane on otherworldly fashion in Dakar

19:16
“I love telling stories, I love expressing my inner truth and this is what I have been doing for a while now,” says fashion designer Selly Raby Kane. At Design Indaba Conference 2015, Kane shared her experience of being a fashion designer in Dakar, Senegal, highlighting the burgeoning creative energy in the city as being central to the work she is doing there. After completing a degree in business and administration in France, Kane decided to return to Dakar where she founded her eponymous fashion label, Selly Raby Kane. “It was my first experience in the fashion world,” says Kane. It began from an “impulsion and [I] didn’t really know where it was coming from”. While in Dakar exploring her newly found creative energy, Kane joined Les Petit Pierre and became a central figure in Dakar’s new wave of creative practitioners. Le Petit is a Dakar-based creative collective that “tries to bring change into Dakar through social responsibility and helping young underground artists to rise and express their own voice,” says Kane. A seminal moment for Selly Raby Kane came when her designs were featured in WAD Magazine and Vogue Italia. It was monumental for her as a designer, and as a Senegalese citizen, because it gave her work new affirmation: “It was interesting t o see that clothes made in a small atelier in Dakar could resonate with the world and with really serious magazines.” Her collections are a fantastical confluence of art and fashion: Kane is inspired by a juxtaposition of things that have nothing to do with one another, the surreal and the absurd meet in the prospect of an alien invasion in the city of Dakar, or Madagascan baobab trees appear with hip hop artist Jay-Z’s head hanging as fruits. “It was done in the spirit of liberating things, saying things and not being afraid of showing something fantastic in a city that is so caught in its reality.”

Born Peggy Ann Freeman in the "Motor City" on August 31, 1945. Donyale Luna was the first African American to be featured on the cover of a Vogue magazine. She skyrocketed to Super Model status before Super models were even heard of, and the presence of Black models was rare. Her issues were many, her life was tragic. However, she has made an imprint on the fashion world and should be remembered for her ground breaking cover on Vogue. Please take the time to read her Wiki page. Michael Jackson:The Last Photo Shoots TWO - Documentary Ebony /Vogue Magazine [NEW FOOTAGE]

01:11
"Michael: The Last Photo Shoots" is a fascinating behind the scenes look at Michael Jackson's last magazine cover photo shoots and the struggle to make them happen. It is a unique story told through the eyes of several of Michael's closest friends, photographers and stylists that had helped Michael prepare for his planned comeback in 2007. In 2007, after several years of living over-seas in seclusion, Michael returned to the United States wanting to make a comeback onto the music scene. Taking the cover of L'UOMO Vogue for its October 2007 issue was Michael's first step. On September 14, 2007 in New York, Photographer Bruce Weber and Vogue Fashion Editor / Michael Jackson's personal stylist Rushka Bergman captured the magic of the King of Pop for the 25th Anniversary of the release of Thriller. On September 24, 2007 in Brooklyn, NY, Michael Jackson did an interview and another photo shoot for Ebony Magazine for its December 2007 issue. This was Michael's first United States interview and magazine story in a decade. Michael had a love for art and being an artist himself, Michael had said that he had wanted to be photographed in a space "where art lives on forever." Ebony selected the Brooklyn Museum of Art as the location. While many magazine covers were done throughout Michael's career, the Vogue and Ebony shoots were very important to Michael as these were for his comeback. Through these photos, Michael's image as art lives on forever. Along with never before seen footage of Michael, "Michael: The Last Photo Shoots" contains engaging interviews with Rushka Bergman (Contributing Fashion Editor of L'Uomo Vogue, Vogue Italia and Michael Jackson's personal stylist), Phillip Bloch (widely considered to be one of Hollywood's premier fashion stylists), Bruce Weber (famed photographer and filmmaker) and Kabuki (legendary make-up artist from Northern England known for his unique flair and artistry with make-up and imagery and one of the most exciting talents in fashion today). There are captivating interviews with Bryan Monroe (an award winning journalist, CNN Politics editor, team leader of the winner of the Pulitzer Price Gold Medal, former Vice President and Editorial Director of Ebony and Jet Magazines and the journalist who conducted the last major interview with the King of Pop - Michael Jackson), Harriett Cole (Life stylist author, nationally syndicated advice columnist, former Editor in Chief of Ebony Magazine and Creative director for Michael Jackson's last cover photo shoot) and Michael Amir (Executive Assistant and Chief of Staff for Michael Jackson). She's been singing from a very early age & listening to a variety of music, including the inspiring northern soul singers from her dad's collection of records, not to mention the 70's disco tapes her mam would play in the car on the way to school. In the past year or so however, she decided to start writing songs using her piano in the dining room and then went on to perform at small local gigs, which she found thoroughly enjoyable. Performing in public has always been a huge fear of hers, but the more she has done it, the less nerve-racking and the more natural it has become. With the help and support from everyone at Baby Girl Music she has truly blossomed and cannot wait to share her music with the world. She was also recently named runner-up in the National singer/songwriter competition, 'Open Mic', a brilliant experience for her to be part of and an excellent confidence booster to say the least... Gisele Bundchen | Change from childhood to 2018

03:59
Gisele Bundchen is a Brazilian fashion model. She's been hailed by ROLLING STONE Magazine as THE MOST BEAUTIFUL GIRL IN THE WORLD and confirmed her status in December 1999 as the most wanted face in fashion, when she was named VOGUE-VH1's MODEL OF THE YEAR. Born on the 20th of July, 1980, in Horizontina, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil, Gisele Caroline Bundchen grew up closely tied to her five sisters. The arrival of Gisele on the international fashion scene, in 1996, was seen by many in the industry as the beginning of a new move away from the look-of-the-moment trend of harsh, edgy images into a softer, sexier phase. Actually, VOGUE credited Gisele's work in the fashion industry as 'The Return of the Sexy Model'. The road to becoming today's most requested model came as mere chance for Gisele. Although Gisele had set her sights on a career as a professional volleyball player or a veterinarian, she was discovered by Brazilian model scouts at the age of 14 while eating a hamburger in a diner during a school trip in Rio de Janiero. Despite her father's disagreement with her career choice, Gisele moved to the city. Two years later, she found herself in New York City. Since her debut, she has been the face of a variety of advertising campaigns including several seasons of Christian Dior, Balenciaga, Dolce & Gabbana, Missoni, Versace, Celine, Givenchy, Bvlgari, Lanvin, Guerlain, Valentino, Ralph Lauren, Earl Jean, Zara, Chloe, Michael Kors, Louis Vuitton, and Victoria's Secret. Bundchen is also the face of several Brazilian brands like Vivo, Brazil's leading mobile company, Multiplan, Colcci and Credicard. After C&A Brazil hired her and started their television commercials, sales increased by 30%. In May 2006, Bundchen signed another multi-million dollar deal, this time with American giant Apple Computer. She starred in an advertising campaign to promote the new Macintosh line through the Get a Mac advertisements. She has her own line of sandals with shoes company Grendene, called Ipanema Gisele Bundchen. Forbes puts her on 53rd of their list of the most powerful celebrities of 2007 due to the success of her popular shoe line, Ipanema. Custom Ipanema flip-flops sell for as much as $230 a pair. She is also the owner of a hotel in the south of Brazil, the Palladium Executive. On May 1, 2007 it was announced that Bundchen had ended her contract with Victoria's Secret. The New York Post's Page Six reported that Bundchen had left Victoria's Secret because it wouldn't raise her $5 million-a-year salary. In July 2007, earning an estimated total of $33 million in the past 12 months, Forbes magazine named her the world's top-earning model in the list of the World's 15 Top-Earning Supermodels. Vogue Arabia cover sparks backlash

00:46
Vogue Arabia is angering Internet users once more with a provocative cover. Months after issues prominently featuring Gigi Hadid and Rihanna sparked accusations of "blackface" and cultural appropriation, social-media users lambasted the 1-year-old magazine on Wednesday for a cover featuring a photo of Saudi Princess Hayfa bint Abdullah Al Saud sitting behind the wheel of a red convertible. The image celebrates the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia's upcoming removal of a ban prohibiting women from obtaining driver's licenses. The move is part of an overall campaign of modernization as Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, known colloquially as MBS, prepares to take the throne: In April, the country also lifted its ban on cinemas, and Black Panther became the first film to screen there in 35 years. "This month, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is putting women in the driving seat — and so are we," the magazine explained in its announcement of the cover. The issue "celebrates the women of the Kingdom and their wide-reaching achievements," the magazine added. However, the ban, which will be lifted June 24, is is still being enforced in the country, and in late May at least six prominent women's rights activists, several of whom had been staunchly opposed to the driving ban, were detained. Amnesty International has also reported a "public smear campaign" had been initiated in the country, with the intention to portray the activists as "traitors." Three activists have since been released. READ MORE Gigi Hadid Responds to 'Blackface' Accusations Surrounding Vogue Italia Cover Hayfa bint Abdullah Al Saud is the daughter of the late King Faisal, who ruled the country from 1964 to 1975, when he was assassinated by his nephew, and who, like every king, enforced the ban. She tells Vogue Arabia in the story, "In our country, there are some conservatives who fear change. For many, it’s all they have known. Personally, I support these changes with great enthusiasm.” On Wednesday, Twitter users mocked the cover as a tone-deaf celebration of a princess whose family had been in part responsible for the ban. "Oh Conde Nast, did you not learn from Asma Assad as the 'desert rose'?" journalist Azadeh Moaveni asked, referring to a controversial 2012 Vogue story on the wife of Syrian President Bashar al-Assad. "@VogueArabia is telling the wrong story," one activist wrote, attaching a photo split showing the Vogue cover on one side and a parallel image in which Princess Hayfa's head was replaced with the face of a female activist in the country on the other. (Several others on Twitter also doctored photos to do the same.) "You've got to be kidding me. A princess graces the cover of next month's Vogue Arabia while @azizayousef @Saudiwoman @LoujainHathloul and other activist women who have worked tirelessly to lift driving ban languish in jail," a Middle East reporter for The Telegraph added. Saudi women's rights activist Manal al-Sharif, who helped start the campaign advocating that women be allowed to drive in the country, was also profiled in the issue. She wrote on Twitter on Wednesday, "@VogueArabia June issue is dedicated to Saudi Women.. I haven't got my issue yet, but so happy that my country women are being celebrated yet let's not forget the true heroes @azizayousef @Saudiwoman @LoujainHathloul," tagging the three women still detainied in the country. She later tweeted at the magazine, asking why it had Photoshopped out her scars. This is just the latest controversy to have dogged the magazine, which weathered backlash when it put Gigi Hadid on the cover of its inaugural issue with her skin apparently darkened. Rihanna later appeared in stereotypically Egyptian garments in the November 2017 issue in an homage to Queen Nerfititi, leading online commentators to protest "cultural appropriation." Stateside, American Vogue received withering press and online comments in May when it released a story and accompanying editor's letter about Harvey Weinstein's wife and Marchesa co-founder Georgina Chapman. Vogue editor-in-chief Anna Wintour wrote that Chapman “had no idea about her husband’s behavior,” and added, “blaming her for any of it, as too many have in our gladiatorial digital age, is wrong.”
