How To Edit The WordPress Header | WP Learning Lab

04:37
Grab Your Free 17-Point WordPress Pre-Launch PDF Checklist: http://vid.io/xqRL How To Edit The WordPress Header | WP Learning Lab The WordPress header is one of those place where a lot of important things happen. Scripts are called, integrations are set up and validated, stylesheets are imported, and so on. Usually, leaving the header.php file alone is the best plan, but sometimes you have to make additions or changes. Before you do, keep in mind that if you are editing the header.php file of the main theme, then updates to that theme can cause your changes to be overwritten. To avoid this, you'll need to create a child theme. Here's a tutorial to help you do just that: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z8n1h-85SMQ Once you've created the child theme you'll want to duplicate the header.php file into it by following this tutorial: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ebGrw1h6Hog Once you have the header.php file there we can get to work. If you've followed the tutorials above you can now dive into header file and started editing. If you didn't create a child theme, then there are a couple ways to find and edit the header.php file. First, when in your WordPress dashboard you can click on the Appearance menu and then Editor. On the right side of the page you will the list of files in the theme. One of them will be called header.php. Click on that file and it open it so you can edit the WordPress header. Or you can go through the file manager in your cPanel account. Once in the file manager navigate to wp-content/themes/YOURTHEME. The header.php file is normally in the root of a themes directory. You can also connect via FTP to make edits to files. Now that you've found the header.php it goes without saying that you need to be careful. One wrong move in a PHP file and your whole site will go down until you fix the problem. So only edit the WordPress header if you are comfortable with PHP. I hope this information helps you! How to Add Image Icons With Navigation Menus in WordPress

05:11
Do you want to add image icons to your WordPress navigation menu? This can help with the design and style of your menus for your users to understand them better. In this video, we will show you how to add image icons with your WordPress navigation menus. The code we use for the second method can be found here: https://www.wpbeginner.com/plugins/how-to-add-image-icons-with-navigation-menus-in-wordpress/ For the first method, we will be showing you we will be using the plugin "Menu Image" found here: https://wordpress.org/plugins/menu-image/ With the plugin installed and activated, you can go under Appearance, Menus and edit or create a menu for your site. Under each menu item, you will now have the option to set a menu image and an image on hover. You also have the option to decide where the image appears and the size of the image. The second option will be manually adding the CSS to add the images to your menu icons. Start by using the screen options in your menu editor to display the CSS Classes. In the CSS Classes, you will want to add unique identifiers to each of your menu items for the code to choose from. With that set up with your images, you would add the CSS code from our article and change the name to the menu icon you want it to be. How to Replace a WordPress Image & Keep the File Name

01:38
Learn how to replace an image in WordPress but keep the same file name. This also works for PDFs, as well as other file types. Replacing WordPress images can be helpful if you use images from a user interface, such as when writing tutorials or how-to articles. If the UI changes, you don’t want to have to go through each of your help articles and insert a new image with the updated UI. Similarly, if you run an WooCommerce store, you might have inserted product images in multiple places. It’d be great if you could just upload a new WooCommerce product image using the exact same file name, so that it gets updated automatically throughout your WordPress site. IMPORTANT! If you use an caching plugins, please remember to clear the cache after replacing your image. Since the file name hasn’t changed, your server might have the old version of the image stored in its cache. Likewise, if a user tells you that they still see the old image, ask them to clear their browser’s cache. Download the Enable Media Replace Plugin Search for "enable media replace" on your WordPress plugins page, or you can view/download the plugin here: PLUGIN ➜ https://wordpress.org/plugins/enable-media-replace/

How To Move An Image in Wordpress - http://buildawebsitetonight.com

03:30
http://buildawebsitetonight.com/wordpress---how-to-login-add-pages-to-your-website.html How To Move An Image From Left To Right on Your Wordpress Website Hi, my name is Teena Hughes and in this video I will show you how to move a photo or image on a blog post or a page on your website (using your self-hosted Wordpress.org site). You can choose different alignment options: -- left aligned -- right aligned -- center aligned -- no alignment (stays on the left). You can also add a Border, a Caption, description and Meta Tags (as shown in the other videos on my Channel). If you'd like to build a website tonight, I can help you - pop on over to my site and send me a message, or tweet me, Facebook me, or post a comment on this video at Youtube :-) You have 3 choices for creating websites with Wordpress.org : -- a website with stand-alone pages (a normal website) -- a blog which changes the Home page every time you write a new blog post -- a combination of the two - some static pages and some blog pages. Whatever you decide, Wordpress.org will be able to handle it seamlessly for you. If you'd like to see more of my tips and tricks, you might like to sign up for my video newsletter which goes out every week or so - a quick video, less than 5 minutes, teaching you something new each time. It's called YOUR BIZ HOT TIPS, and you can sign up for it on my site: http://buildawebsitetonight.com/newsletter.html I look forward to hearing from you and chatting soon!
