if someone has a really great idea to to either license or manufacture a product but rather go the license route would it be safe just to share your ideas or should you develop them and patent them to have protection of big companies just taking your ideas and make their business better by just cutting you off?

Try to get a provisional patent first - so that you can at least keep your idea safe :)
