if you get an error on the first step, first enter "sudo apt-get update" into the terminal and then continue on with the first step and so on in the video.

it doesn't work. the following messages pop up ... any idea how to solve this? linux-headers-4.15.0-29-generic set to manually installed. You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these. The following packages have unmet dependencies: build-essential : Depends: libc6-dev but it is not going to be installed or libc-dev Depends: gcc (>= 4:7.2) but it is not going to be installed Depends: g++ (>= 4:7.2) but it is not going to be installed Depends: make Depends: dpkg-dev (>= 1.17.11) but it is not going to be installed dkms : Depends: gcc but it is not going to be installed Depends: dpkg-dev but it is not going to be installed Recommends: fakeroot plymouth-theme-ubuntu-text : Depends: plymouth (= 0.9.3-1ubuntu7.18.04.1) but 0.9.3-1ubuntu7 is to be installed E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution).

if you're installing Xubuntu, then commands will be same only difference is that in Xubuntu , we may not have an Autorun Prompt for the mounted CD. Then we can install the guest additions by opening a terminal on the mounted guest additions and run command , sudo ./VBoxLinuxAdditions.run

For those who didn't fully understand (like me), once you click Insert Guest Additions CD Image from the tutorial, a CD icon will pop up on the desktop. Open that folder. Then right click anywhere on the window that opens, and click Open Terminal Here. Then run the command that Vaibhav typed. Go back to the tutorial and follow the rest of the instructions. Test the additions by opening Mousepad (right click anywhere on desktop > Applications > Mousepad).

Bi-directional on the shared clipboard option or the copy and paste is a HUGE security risk as it opens a portal to the host machine. If you use virtual machines to evaluate media suspected of viruses, this is a "never-do".
Mr Naesme (2 months ago)
I imagine if you were using the VM as a sandbox for those types of tests, you probably wouldn't have gotten to this video. You probably have no real use for copy and paste at that point.
